Costly grace is the grace which must be sought again and again, the gift which must be asked for, the door at which a person must knock.

Jesus cleansed the Temple not because the people were necessarily sinning in selling animals and exchanging money - he cleansed the Temple because those activities were preventing others from worshipping and praying in God's Temple. Is there anything we are doing that is detracting from and hindering the true worship of God? Is there anything we are doing that is keeping those who are not yet following Jesus from taking that step of faith?

Jesus loves us just as we are, but he loves us too much to let us stay that way.

This world needs Christians willing to face adversity head on, so the power of Jesus can flow through them and into the lives of others.

It might sound obvious or silly, but in order to finish a marathon or race you have to physically start at some point. This is also true our Christian walk - it is not just thinking the right thoughts or believing the right doctrine; at some point we have to put one foot in front of the other and live out this faith we profess.

Our plan for maturing in the Spirit involves disciplines we must develop, disciplines which help us to get rid of our old liturgies, our old ways of living and thinking, so we can replace them with Christian liturgies which align us with God's way of living in the power of the Spirit.

No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. 1 John 4:12

We study the Bible, because the Bible is the primary way in which we come to know our Loving Savior.

Our ultimate hope as Christians is that Jesus, who came to us once already to inaugurate God's kingdom, will come once again to establish God's kingdom and restore all things to God's plan.

We live out gratitude to God when we live generously toward others.

Evil and sin exist in our world, and because of that people experience pain and brokenness, even when we choose to follow God's ways. It is because of this we must be careful of how we talk about God's blessings, especially when we are going through the "good" times in our lives, because, as the Bible teaches us, God continues to be good, even when life is not.

Sometimes we treat God as someone who we thank, but only when something good or nice happens to us. As followers of Jesus, we must recognize we are stewards of all the blessings God has given us. This will change how we see God, our possessions, and our mission as Christ-followers.

Psalm 18 declares, "The Lord lives!", which means that God is always active in our lives, whether we choose to recognize it or not. Which thread will we let direct our path into the future, the thread of God’s mighty hand, or the thread of our own regrets?

We are called to declare God’s glory among the nations, to give voice to praise, by making sure our everyday, face to face conversations are full of grace, sprinkled with salt, and always giving witness to the work of God in our lives.
