Blood Red: Premier League given green light to restart | Liverpool could yet lift title at Anfield
11/05/2020 Duration: 30minThe government has given the Premier League the green light to restart in June – and Liverpool could yet lift the title at Anfield. A 50-page roadmap was unveiled by UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Monday that could permit ‘cultural and sporting events to take place behind closed doors for broadcast, while avoiding the risk of large-scale social contact,’ after June 1. The Premier League are planning to play the remaining 92 games behind closed doors at neutral venues that do not include Liverpool’s iconic home, Anfield. But reports have suggested more than half of the 20 top-flight clubs expressed opposition to the neutral grounds plan and have asked Premier League executives to petition the government to be permitted to play the rest of the capaign on the usual home and away basis. That would give Liverpool, who are just two wins away from securing the title, the chance to play their remaining four home matches at Anfield.
