  • Alan Moore Month: V for Vendetta

    23/09/2016 Duration: 02h50min

from the wiki: V for Vendetta is a graphic novel written by Alan Moore and illustrated by David Lloyd (with additional art by Tony Weare), published by Vertigo, an imprint of DC Comics. The story depicts a dystopian and post-apocalyptic near-future history version of the United Kingdom in the 1990s, preceded by a nuclear war in the 1980s, which has left most of the world destroyed. The fascist Norsefire party has exterminated its opponents in concentration camps and rules the country as a police state. The comics follow its title character and protagonist, V, an anarchist revolutionary dressed in a Guy Fawkes mask, as he begins an elaborate and theatrical revolutionist campaign to murder his former captors, bring down the government and convince the people to rule themselves, while inspiring a young woman, Evey Hammond, to be his protégé.

  • Metal Hammer of Doom - Brujeria - "Pocho Aztlan" and "Viva presidente Trump!"

    21/09/2016 Duration: 02h15min

From NuclearBlast.com ***On »Pocho Aztlán«, Brujo and his backing band of extreme-metal superstars saw off tributes to Pablo Escobar ('Plata O Plomo'), recount exotic narco-tales of drug drops gone wrong ('Isla De La Fantacia') and even carve out a customized cover of the DEAD KENNEDYS classic 'California Über Alles' ('California Über Aztlán'). Elsewhere, Brujo brings his trademark levity to bear on 'Culpan La Mujer' ('Blame The Woman'), a send-up of old-school Mexican machismo. “You got a woman? Blame her,” he laughs. “It goes back to Adam and Eve - the woman did it! It’s also the old macho, Mexican way. Always blame the woman.” »Pocho Aztlán« was preceded by the seven-inch single »Viva Presidente Trump!,« which was released on Record Store Day back in April. Pressed on vinyl colors representing the Mexican flag, the single sold out instantly and already fetches ridiculous collector’s prices on eBay. “If I came out and said, ‘Kill Trump,’ there’d be a lawsuit,”Brujo points out. “We wouldn’t win that, so we

  • Alan Moore Month: The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen

    16/09/2016 Duration: 02h13min

Alan Moore Month Continues with The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is a comic book series co-created by writer Alan Moore and artist Kevin O'Neill which began in 1999. The series spans two six-issue limited series, Volume I, Volume II, and an original graphic novel Black Dossier from the America's Best Comics imprint of DC Comics, and a third volume and spin-off trilogy Nemo published by Top Shelf and Knockabout Comics. According to Moore, the concept behind the series was initially a "Justice League of Victorian England" but quickly grew into an opportunity to merge many works of fiction into one world. Elements of Volume I were used in a loosely adapted feature film of the same name, released in 2003 and starring Sean Connery. The film opened at #2 at the box office but was met with negative responses from critics and had little resemblance to the comic book source, and resulted in Alan Moore's departure from involvement with Hollywood. A reboot was announced in M

  • Metal Hammer of Doom: KMFDM - Rocks: Milestones Reloaded

    15/09/2016 Duration: 02h01min

The boys review the latest from industrial music legends KMFDM, KMFDM - Rocks: Milestones Reloaded. The album, a personal "best-of" compilation by KMFDM protagonists and masterminds Sascha Konietzko and Lucia Cifarelli, who claim the re-imagined, re-mixed pieces would be an "ideal playlist for a live set," commemorates the band's 32nd anniversary. Ranging from remixes by Bradley Bills of CHANT to producer/musician extraordinary Marco Trentacoste and Sascha Konietzko himself, the re-worked versions extract the essence of KMFDM's music and, at the same time, place new emphases. In true KMFDM tradition, "Rocks" bears all the band's trademarks: the (mostly) five letters commonly used in the title, as well as the iconic graphics of Aidan Hughes a.k.a. BRUTE!, which are reminiscent in the style of early Soviet Constructivism propaganda. • Alan Moore Month: Watchmen

    09/09/2016 Duration: 02h07min

Jesse Starcher from Source Material and Mark Radulich from Long Road to Ruin host a 4 part series comparing the comics to the movies of British comic writer, Alan Moore. We'll start off with Watchmen and we''l be joined by frequent guests Cole Marentette, Ronnie Adams, & Patrick Mullin. Watchmen is an American comic-book limited series published by DC Comics in 1986 and 1987, and collected in 1987. The series was created by a British collaboration consisting of writer Alan Moore, artist Dave Gibbons, and colorist John Higgins. Watchmen originated from a story proposal Moore submitted to DC featuring superhero characters that the company had acquired from Charlton Comics. Moore used the story as a means to reflect contemporary anxieties and to deconstruct and parody the superhero concept. Watchmen depicts an alternate history where superheroes emerged in the 1940s and 1960s and their presence changed history so that the United States won the Vietnam War and the Watergate scandal was never exposed.  Wat
