Welcome to the Totally Normal Podcast Episode #47 Hangoutlander 301— we are back with the First live recap episode of Outlander Season 3.  We have to be honest- we recorded this almost 2 weeks ago and have completed FAILED at getting this podcast up in time. We are so sorry!  But back when we recorded this, Bekah and Nikki were together on one couch in LA and joined on camera with Beth and Julie- the gang was back together again! It was like we were just sitting on one of our beds at Comic Con, albeit less drunk on Bud Light than one of us was back in July. Spoiler: That was Bekah. This week we're joined by Nikki, Karen, Amy and Julie who happen to be the biggest Willie and Geneva fans we could find. JUST KIDDING! This week we covered Parts 4 and 5 or chapters 12-23. Welcome to the Totally Normal podcast where getting drunk and talking about books is totally normal. For Boozy Book Club our September books were Gayle Forman’s Leave Me and Neil Gaiman’s American Gods. One was the adult debut of one of our favorite Young Adult authors, and one is the highly acclaimed fantasy novel that we are super anticipating coming to our TV screens and laptops on Starz next year. Amy and Beth were joined by Hangout newbies: Courtney and Danelle. We had a great time trying to figure out why we just couldn’t relate to Gayle Forman’s protagonist Maribeth and why American Gods is totally and completely indelible. It's the #Hangoutlander Season finale! We were so excited to come together this past Monday night to discuss the finale of season 2 of Outlander, partly because it's exhausting to talk about Outlander week after week with only one break, but also because.. it was the finale! There was so much to discuss and that we did! There were some varied opinions on our team which included Bekah, Nikki, Beth and Julie from That's Normal, plus Kyle from Hypable.com AND a very special guest and TN reader, Joanna. We definitely disagreed on some of the ways the finale fell short and on things we liked, but overall we thought it was a decent finale that was missing some key elements that, to be honest, were probably missing all along this season. Namely Jamie and Claire! We watch the show because we fell in love with their love while reading the books. And overall we just feel that the show has been lacking. We opened this episode trying to say "Je Suis Prest." And we failed. One thing was clear- none of us speak French!    We had a great convo this week though it was a smaller than normal crew from That’s normal.  We talked about #HatGate- the name we’ve lovingly given our confusion surrounding a recent picture of Sam Heughan wearing what looks to be a photo-shopped cowboy hat.   Then, of course we talked about the episode which was Beth’s favorite of the series. We had some differing opinions on the PTSD edition that we don’t see in the books, and we ended the convo with a real quick chat about how Outlander is going to take over our Sunday nights from this moment forward since they announced both season 3 AND 4 would be made!   Plus this week we gave away a copy of the Outlander Kitchen cook book to a lucky LIVE viewer! If you love Outlander, if you love Caitriona Balfe and if you hate really bad fake beards, then this is definitely the episode for you. This live hangoutlander was all about the best season 2 episode to date, entitled Faith. We were joined by the always hilarious and gracious and awesome ladies from My Outlander Purgatory, Carol and Tracey. Aaaaaand we all pretty much loved the heck out of this episode. Emotional gut punches and an amazing performances, and that one really awful scene we could have all done without. Also too bad about that beard, Jamie.
