I Make My Wife Watch Movies

A few weeks late for this Ape-venture, but here it is. We saw War for the Planet of the Apes to see how the new director of The Batman did on his latest. I can feel the urge to make more monkey/ape/banana related puns and I won't be able to keep being strong, so for both of us I'm just going to leave it there. Enjoy!

Krystle forces her main man to watch a movie about a guy with scissors for hands by Tim Burton. Do you guys love this movie? People love this movie right? We watch. We talk. We live to watch another day. 

Krystle absolutely hated Snowpiercer so this was a tough sell, but we had some friends over and we convinced her to watch the new Netflix original by Bong Joon-Ho. One of our favoritos from Silicon Valley made a great movie about his real life relationship. In our esteemed opinion(s) this is one of the best romantic comedies to come along in years. It's a sort of reverse episode as Krystle got to see this one first at a screening! Spoilers.

We branch out to bring you some GoT bonus episodes leading up to season 7 in July. Krystle has never seen these before, and finally watching them all together is a dream come true. Another great Alamo Drafthouse screening of an old cult classic! We watched The Big Lebowski - tune in to see if Krystle can push past her feminist leanings to enjoy a movie that fails the Bechdel test in spectacular fashion. But boy John Goodman is a hoot! If you don't like this movie, well that's just like, your opinion, man. I think I speak for the world when I say, you're out of your element Krystle. More Boston! More crime! More Affleck! But there is never enough Affleck to satisfy Michael. We watch Benjamin's directorial debut and enjoy another crime film set in Boston based on the novel by the great Dennis Lehane. Is this Ben Affleck's best movie? The BFFs watch an old classic with no death or destruction, but lots of man tears from Dustin Hoffman and child stalking from Meryl Streep... yes gang, it's Kramer vs. Kramer! Spoilers start to finish on this one. We highly recommend it, especially for insensitive husbands who are so caught up in their work (or GMAT prep) that they neglect their wives and family - yeah, Trevor, that's not okay. Michael forces Krystle to watch Wonder Woman, because she generally hates movies with strong female protagonists. Then she realized Chris Pine was the real hero the whole time and actually liked it a lot. This episode is proof that there are miracles in the world, as Krystle finally agrees to watch The Departed! Our first Scorcese experience is a delight for everyone as Krystle is moved emotionally in a way she never before would have thought possible. A worldview is changed. A marriage bond is deepened.
