It's the long awaited day at last as the zombie trend's latest entrant goes head to head with the five middle fingers' patience. Two will enter, one will leave. Well, actually, both will leave... but one will definitely not be as happy as the other. It's World War Z time! Will its PG-13 sanitized horror measure up to the hopes of the guys? Really? Are you really thinking this is going to go well? After that, the guys chew a couple Xanax and huddle up to the campfire to discuss good and bad novel adaptations. We look at what differentiates a good adaptation from a bad one, and whether you can have a great movie that's a bad adaptation. Plus, as always, you get Mike's News, lots of ranting, lot's of laughs, and some good old fashioned Nick rage.

To prepare for Slashercast's impending review of the movie, this Side Effect reviews World War Z: The Complete Edition Audiobook by Max Brooks.  Dave is joined by New Jersey Nick and returning guest/author D.A. Chaney (@DA_Chaney).  In addition to our review we also discuss the movie adaptation of World War Z and other successful book to film adaptations.

This week you'll get some news from Mike before the fellas revisit the world of analog horror with the hotly-anticipated V/H/S/2. After the original V/H/S scored a rare SlasherCast Platinum rating last year, the found footage follow-up had its work cut out for it. Could it be the rare sequel that outdoes its predecessor? Chaney (@DA_Chaney) discuss the JJ Abrams film Star Trek Into Darkness.  In addition to the review we discuss the internet backlash regarding the film's plot twist, as well as a speculation about what JJ Abrams will bring when he directs Star Wars Episode VII.  Dave attempts to justify the use of contemporary music in the new Star Trek films while Nick reacts with apathy.

On our first double review Side Effect we explore two time travel science fiction films.  Dave (@TheHumanIMDB) is joined by New Jersey Nick (@NewJerseyNick), Chris (@Paimonean), and making his podcast debut is Dave's friend Brian (@destro610).  This episode discusses Colin Trevorrow's Safety Not Guaranteed and Shane Carruth's Primer. In this episode, Dave is joined by Jack and Mike to discuss Shane Black's Iron Man 3.  Our guest K.C. Chamberlain (@KC_Chamberlain) joins the Side Effect during Rush Hour traffic, bringing his perspective to the latest installment to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).  We have a detailed discussion on the Mandarin, Shane Black's filmmaking style, and the future of the MCU.  As a bonus, Jack reads New Jersey Nick's review of the film in Nick's voice.

First up, we get Mike's news, as usual, before jumping right into Brandon Cronenberg's first feature film, Antiviral, a seething look at the celebrity obsessed culture of today, and where it may go tomorrow. Then, we jump back in time to see what the guys think of an early film from David Cronenberg, Rabid. Will it hold up to modern viewing, or will its frothy mouthed, pseudo zombies come up short in a world of rage virus & quarantine movies? More importantly, what is an armpit dick? On Episode 12 Dave, New Jersey Nick, and D.A. Chaney return to discuss the crime thriller, Sushi Girl, from Magnet Releasing.  The discussion goes into Mark Hamill's career, Tony Todd's "magical" role in the film, and Dave has a unique observation from one of the flashbacks in this film.
