01/11/2018 Duration: 01h10minOn the 3rd episode of the special episode series called Breaking It Apart, co-host Chad Clinton Freeman and I discuss the 1931 classic Frankenstein! This film and its creature have not only influenced hundreds of films, but pop culture in general. The hardest part of this episode was narrowing down all the movies we had to choose from! Puzzle pieces include Chappie, Edward Scissorhands, Alien, and Ex-Machina.And for those keeping track of the Piecing It Together Podcast, just know that special series and episodes like this will continue to be a part of the future of the show, and we’ll continue figuring out the best way to brand them and tie them in to the overall puzzle theme as we continue doing them. While some special episodes will be a once in a while thing, Breaking It Apart will be a regular occurrence with its own numbering. As always, SPOILER ALERT for Frankenstein (and any other movies we discussed)!Chad Clinton Freeman is the founder of the Pollygrind Film Festival and is currently helping plan

Ryan and I are obsessed with Goddard's Cloverfield series so we jumped at the chance to cover this mystery about a group of strangers who converge on an old motel located on the California-Nevada border... And while we weren't The Cloverfield Paradox level disappointed, we didn't exactly love our stay at the El Royale. Puzzle pieces include every Quentin Tarantino movie, Lost, Smokin' Aces, and No Country for Old Men.As always, SPOILER ALERT for Bad Times at the El Royale (and any other movies we discussed)!https://www.foxmovies.com/movies/bad-times-at-the-el-royaleRyan Daugherty is a programmer and has collaborated with David Rosen on a number of projects.Check out his website at http://sharmandraproductions.com/My new album, A Different Kind Of Dream is available NOW on iTunes and all other digital music stores!

Mandy (Featuring David Quinones)
28/09/2018 Duration: 58minOn the 29th episode of Piecing It Together, returning co-host David Quinones and I discuss Mandy... A movie that promises the craziest Nicolas Cage performance you've ever seen, and actually pretty much delivers (well to be fair he's got a TON of crazy performances to choose from so lets just say it lives up to his legacy). At its core it's a revenge film about a man who goes after a religious cult after they murder his wife, but it's much more than that and one of the most unique films to come along in a while. Puzzle pieces include Army of Darkness, The Wall, Tommy and Heavy Metal album covers. As always, SPOILER ALERT for Mandy (and any other movies we discussed)!https://legionm.com/mandy/Also, be sure to join the #MandyChallenge by doing your best impression of the Nicolas Cage screaming while in his tidy whities scene from Mandy like we did!https://www.facebook.com/piecingpod/videos/316668705793839/https://www.facebook.com/sharmandra/videos/10217384973514705/ David Quinones is a writer, reporter, pod

The Predator (Featuring Ryan Daugherty)
24/09/2018 Duration: 01h26minOn the 28th episode of Piecing It Together, returning co-host Ryan Daugherty and I discuss Shane Black's continuation of the classic alien hunter sci-fi horror action series Predator with... The Predator! It's a straight up sequel and not a reboot or something so I wonder why the didn't just call it Predator 3... I just thought of that... Anyway it's a mess of a movie but a fun mess and we had a blast talking about it. Puzzle pieces include Aliens Vs Predator 2 (because if you're going to emulate a movie from the franchise why not aim low?), Alien Covenant, Independence Day and Con Air.As always, SPOILER ALERT for The Predator (and any other movies we discussed)!https://www.thepredator.fox/homeRyan Daugherty is a programmer and has collaborated with David Rosen on a number of projects.Check out his website at http://sharmandraproductions.com/My new album, A Different Kind Of Dream is available NOW on iTunes and all other digital music stores! The horrifying character who made her debut in The Conjuring 2 and Annabelle 2 finally gets her own movie, diving deep back into how this evil Nun character got her start and set off the events that would build the Conjuring universe and a world of unspeakable evil... 07/09/2018 Duration: 48minOn the 26th episode of Piecing It Together, co-host Josh Bell and I discuss The Beast, a local feature from Las Vegas-based filmmakers Ryan & Cody LeBoeuf. The Beast originally screened at film festivals under the name Rabbit Days before picking up distribution and getting the name change. It's a crazy, mind-trip of a movie about a play director who lures some guests to his home with the promise of great opportunity, but what they find when they arrive goes from weird to bad to much worse. Puzzle pieces include The House on Haunted Hill, The Invitation, Mullholand Drive and Waiting For Guffman. As always, SPOILER ALERT for The Beast and all the movies we discuss.https://www.amazon.com/Beast-Clarence-Gilyard-Jr/dp/B07GH8236K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1536278819&sr=8-1&keywords=the+beast+movieJosh Bell is a film critic whose work has been seen in the Las Vegas Weekly, Film Racket and more. Breaking It Apart 2 – 2001 A Space Odyssey
03/09/2018 Duration: 01h35minOn the 2nd episode of the special episode series called Breaking It Apart, co-host Kris Krainock and I take a look NOT at a new movie and what movies inspired it, but at a classic movie and what movies were inspired BY it… And this time we're looking at the classic Stanley Kubrick feature 2001: A Space Odyssey. Somehow depicting outer space before we even made it out there, and with some of the most breathtaking visuals ever put to film, 2001 recently had an IMAX re-release which really let the amazingly unique and trippy views of outer space and wormholes shine. Narrowing down the influences on this one were especially difficult as the film clearly laid the groundwork for all of sci-fi from when it was released in 1968 to today. Puzzle pieces include Star Wars, The Tree of Life, Adaptation and The Simpsons. And for those keeping track of the Piecing It Together Podcast, just know that special series and episodes like this will continue to be a part of the future of the show, and we’ll continue figuring out th

Eighth Grade (Featuring Jason Harris)
31/08/2018 Duration: 49minOn the 25th episode of Piecing It Together, first time co-host Jason Harris and I discuss Eighth Grade, the sometimes hilarious, sometimes heart-felt new film from A24. Alpha (Featuring Chad Clinton Freeman)
24/08/2018 Duration: 01h04minOn the 24th episode of Piecing It Together, returning co-host Chad Clinton Freeman discuss Alpha, the survival epic about the first ever "boy and his dog" from writer/director Albert Hughes. It's a gorgeous looking movie set in 20,000BC with long, beautiful shots of the uncompromising wilderness, acted in an ancient language (with subtitles) and tells the story of the first man who ever bonded with a dog. It might not REALLY be the story of the first man and dog to bond, but it's a great one. Puzzle pieces include Apocalypto, 300, 10,000 B.C., and Annie. As always, SPOILER ALERT for Alpha (and any other movies we discussed)!http://www.alpha-themovie.com/Chad Clinton Freeman is the founder of the Pollygrind Film Festival and is currently helping plan the Ironton Wizardfest. Sorry To Bother You (Featuring David Quinones)
17/08/2018 Duration: 01h01minOn the 23rd episode of Piecing It Together, returning co-host David Quinones and I actually do our first ever cross-over episode with our other show Bird Road Podcast by covering the politically charged Sorry To Bother You. The story centers on a man in an alternate near future (played by Atlanta's Lakeith Stanfield) who discovers he has a special gift that will lead to a fast rise up the corporate ladder at his telemarketing job. As his career begins to take off, his friends begin to organize a protest against the corporation, and the anti-capitalism messages mix with plenty of weird dystopian imagery in this wild movie from first time writer/director Boots Riley. Puzzle pieces include the work of Charlie Kaufman and Michel Gondry, Office Space, They Live and Dope. The main conversation of this episode also appears on Episode 38 of our Bird Road Podcast. As always, SPOILER ALERT for Sorry To Bother You (and any other movies we discussed)!http://sorrytobotheryou.movie/David Quinones is a writer, reporter, podca

Ant-Man & The Wasp (Featuring Hunter Farris)
10/08/2018 Duration: 53minOn the 22nd episode of Piecing It Together, first time co-host Hunter Farris and I talk about Ant-Man & The Wasp, the Marvel action-adventure comedy frequently described as a lightweight side piece to the overarching Marvel Cinematic Universe story that both of us quite frankly like more than the rest of the series. Directed by Peyton Reed and starring Paul Rudd, Michael Pena, Evangeline Lily and Michael Douglas, the Ant-Man series mixes everything you love about superhero movies with more laughs, more fun and more crazy sci-fi tech. Puzzle pieces include the Mission Impossible series, Pirates of the Caribbean 2, Ferris Bueller's Day Off and the Harold & Kumar series. As always, SPOILER ALERT for And-Man & The Wasp (and any other movies we discussed)!https://www.marvel.com/antmanHunter Farris is a podcaster and has a great music podcast called Song Appeal in which he asks the question, "Why do we like the music we like?"Check out Song Appeal at http://songappealofficial.com/ and on all major p

Breaking It Apart 1 – The Big Lebowski
07/08/2018 Duration: 01h11minOn the 1st episode of a special episode series called Breaking It Apart, co-host Kris Krainock and I take a look not at a new movie and what movies inspired it, but at a classic movie and what movies were inspired BY it... And the first one we're doing is the cult classic Coen Brothers' film The Big Lebowski. The Dude. Walter. Donny. The Jesus. The Nihilists. Bunny. So many classic characters in such a beautifully complicated yet ridiculous story that blends dark comedy, modern film noir and stoners. The Big Lebowski has inspired countless films, and on this first Breaking It Apart special episode, we get into a bunch of them and what makes this film and the Coen Brothers themselves so special. Puzzle pieces include The Nice Guys, Observe and Report, Brick and In Bruges. And for those keeping track of the Piecing It Together Podcast, just know that special series and episodes like this will continue to be a part of the future of the show, and we'll continue figuring out the best way to brand them and tie them

Mission: Impossible Fallout (Featuring Brian Garth)
03/08/2018 Duration: 01h19minOn the 21st episode of Piecing It Together, first time co-host Brian Garth and I talk about the 6th entry in the long running and apparently never slowing down action spy series Mission Impossible Fallout. Tom Cruise, now 56, still feels the need to do all kinds of insane, death defying stunts while saving the world, and for the first time in the series, a writer/director returns for a second installment. Christopher McQuarrie who wrote and directed the previous installment is back to finish the story he started in Rogue Nation... As well as get Tom Cruise to do a bunch of crazy stuff. Puzzle pieces include the previous Mission Impossible films, Uncharted, The Dark Knight and The Fast & The Furious series. As always, SPOILER ALERT for Mission Impossible Fallout (and any other movies we discussed)!https://www.paramount.com/movies/mission-impossible-falloutBrian Garth is a music producer and has a band, Black Camaro.Find Black Camaro's music on iTunes or at https://blackcamaro.bandcamp.com/For the recor

Uncharted: Live Action Fan Film (Featuring TJ Kross)
27/07/2018 Duration: 53minOn the 20th episode of Piecing It Together, returning co-host TJ Kross and I discuss the Uncharted Live Action Fan Film. Uncharted is based on the hit video-game series, one that always made sense for a film but every time Hollywood started trying to get one off the ground it would lose momentum, directors or actors and go back to the drawing board. All the while, fans asked for the actor Nathan Fillion to play the role of Nathan Drake, and somehow, director Allan Ungar finally made it happen. At 15 minutes, this fan film is unlike anything we've ever covered on the show before, but it still made for a great conversation with plenty of other movie (and video-game) inspirations to talk about. Puzzle pieces include Tomb Raider, Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Da Vinci Code and Mission Impossible. As always, SPOILER ALERT for Uncharted: Live Action Fan Film (and any other movies we discussed)!https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8707436/?ref_=nm_knf_t1TJ Kross is an award-winning composer and recently started a photography

Skyscraper (Featuring Kris Krainock)
20/07/2018 Duration: 01h12minOn the 19th episode of Piecing It Together, returning co-host Kris Krainock and I discuss Skyscraper, the new action movie from The Rock that definitely doesn't have Die Hard as a puzzle piece. Just kidding, of course it does, it's the first one we discuss, but the movie absolutely wears its inspirations on its sleeve with The Rock needing to find a way to scale and enter a burning super-tower to rescue his family from terrorists. It's ridiculous, it's fun (but maybe not as fun as we'd have liked), and it made for a great conversation about action movies in general. Puzzle pieces (other than Die Hard) include The Dark Knight, King Kong, The Rock and True Lies.As always, SPOILER ALERT for Skyscraper (and any other movies we discussed)!https://www.skyscrapermovie.com/Kris Krainock is a filmmaker and film fan who hosts Cinemondays, a weekly film event here in Las Vegas.
