  • In Memory Of (Featuring Chad Clinton Freeman)

    16/07/2018 Duration: 01h10min

On the 18th episode of Piecing It Together, co-host Chad Clinton Freeman and I discuss In Memory Of, a crazy new independent film from the mind of Eric Stanze. Chad brought this movie to the show because as a connoisseur of all things insane independent cinema (he did create the Pollygrind Film Festival after all), Chad was a fan of Eric Stanze's previous films and wanted to check this one out. I'm glad he did because it's a wild movie and was a really fun one to talk about. Puzzle pieces include The Evil Dead, Easy Rider, Natural Born Killers and Requiem For A Dream. As always, SPOILER ALERT for In Memory Of and all the movies we discuss.http://wickedpixel.com/films/in-memory-of/Chad Clinton Freeman is the founder of the Pollygrind Film Festival and is currently helping plan the Ironton Wizardfest. • Bird Road 33 (Special Episode)

    13/07/2018 Duration: 01h14min

On this special episode of Piecing It Together, I decided to share Episode 33 of my other podcast, Bird Road. While Bird Road is normally a show about news, politics and comedy that I do with my best friend Q, sometimes we dig into culture and end up talking movies, and on Episode 33, we talked almost entirely about movies. First we interviewed Cristian Ponce, the creator of Frecuencia Kirlian aka Ghost Radio, a really cool animated web series that's influenced by things such as John Carpenter, The X Files and Frank Miller. After the interview, Q and I talk about my favorite movies of the year so far, as well as run down the list of some of the most acclaimed movies of the year.Bird Road is part of the All Points West Network, the same network that hosts Piecing It Together and can be listened to on any podcast app where Piecing It Together is found. 06/07/2018 Duration: 49min

On the 17th episode of Piecing It Together, co-host Chad Clinton Freeman and I discuss Sicario: Day of The Soldado. As tensions mount at the Mexico / Texas border, the US Government decides to treat the Mexican cartels as terrorists allowing them to get extra dirty. Along the way we sort of lose the point of the first Sicario... As well as that absolute modern classic's main star, director, cinematographer and composer... But we still have Josh Brolin and Benecio Del Toro playing bad-asses and a script from Taylor Sheridan! Puzzle pieces include No Country For Old Men, Children of Men, Desierto and Desperado. As always, SPOILER ALERT for Sicario: Day of the Soldado and all the movies we discuss.http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/sicariodayofthesoldado/Chad Clinton Freeman is the founder of the Pollygrind Film Festival and is currently helping plan the Ironton Wizardfest. • American Animals (Featuring Josh Bell)

    29/06/2018 Duration: 45min

On the 16th episode of Piecing It Together, co-host Josh Bell and I discuss American Animals. It's a true story that's so crazy they had to make a point to tell us in the beginning that it's not "based on a true story," but it "is a true story." From director Bart Layton, the story focuses on a group of four guys, led by Warren (Evan Peters) and Spencer (Barry Keoghan), who bored with their mundane existences decide to try to rob priceless books from a museum to sell on the black market. Yes it really happened, and yes it goes horribly wrong. The movie blends the lines between cinema and reality by also including documentary style interviews with the real guys, as well as including them in scenes with their actor counterparts. Puzzle pieces include The Bling Ring, Reservoir Dogs, The Thin Blue Line and I, Tonya. As always, SPOILER ALERT for American Animals and all the movies we discuss.https://www.americananimals.film/This episode is part two of a two part week on strange true stories... • Tag (Featuring Ryan Daugherty)

    25/06/2018 Duration: 54min

On the 15th episode of Piecing It Together, co-host Ryan Daugherty and I discuss quite possibly the ultimate entry in the man-child sub-genre of comedy films, Tag. From director Jeff Tomsic comes this true-life (seriously) tale of friends who refuse to grow up, as they hold on to their youth by continuing a childhood game of Tag well into their 40s. It stars a huge cast of comedy all-stars including Ed Helms, Hannibal Burress, Jake Johnson, Jon Hamm, Isla Fisher, Jeremy Renner and Leslie Bibb. Puzzle pieces include Judd Apatow films, Grown Ups, Community, The League and movies in which the villain is always two steps ahead of the heroes. As always, SPOILER ALERT for Tag and all the movies we discuss.http://www.tagthemovie.com/This episode is part one of a two part week on strange true stories... We'll be following it up later this week with an episode on American Animals which is also based on an insane true story.Ryan Daugherty is a programmer and has collaborated with David Rosen on a number of pro

The 48 Hour Film Project is an event that happens in cities all over the world where teams of filmmakers are tasked with a specific set of instructions and have to make an entire short film in 48 hours. On the 14th episode of Piecing It Together, returning co-host Kris Krainock and discuss two movies (a first for this show) that not only happen to be two of the best movies of the year so far, but they both share a very important puzzle piece in the classic film Taxi Driver. First Reformed was written & directed by Paul Schrader (who of course also wrote Taxi Driver) and deals with a pastor played by Ethan Hawke who begins to spiral out of control from the pressure of trying to balance the political desires of the church and what he knows in his heart God would think is the right way to live in this world. You Were Never Really Here was written & directed by Lynne Ramsay and follows a man played by Joaquin Phoenix whose life has been defined by violence as he attempts to rescue a young girl from a life of sex trafficking while the effects of all that violence begin to take a toll on him. Aside from Taxi Driver, other puzzle pieces include Diary of a Country Priest, mother!, A History of Violence

This is the first in what we hope to make a regular series of getting reactions from filmmakers. On the 12th episode of Piecing It Together, we're back with a break from giant superhero movies to focus on a more personal story featuring heartfelt themes and moving drama... Just kidding, we're talking about Deadpool 2, the raunchy, violent, bloody action-comedy superhero sequel starring Ryan Reynolds as the Merc with the mouth and a great expanded cast featuring Josh Brolin, TJ Miller, and Zazie Beetz. • A Different Kind Of Dream (Special Episode)

    24/05/2018 Duration: 36min

Another quick mini-episode to hold us over until the next full episode of Piecing It Together. Truth of the matter is we're doing this one for two reasons... 1) I needed an "episode" to test uploading through our new website, https://www.piecingpod.com with! And 2) I've been teasing the fact that my new album, A Different Kind Of Dream was coming soon for a long time now, and as of last Friday, May 18th, it's finally here... So I figured what better way to make a quick mini-episode to test the site with than to let you all hear the new album for free!A Different Kind Of Dream is my 4th album of instrumental music. This also marks the beginning of a new phase in my career where I'll be releasing more music, much more often, without the constraints of the regular album release cycle. I wanted to get these 10 songs out there right away, but after this, I'll be releasing singles, EPs, compilations and remixes as they're finished. There will be a stream of new music coming your way... Nearly as regularly as y

  • Summer Movie Preview (Special Episode)

    18/05/2018 Duration: 16min

On this quick mini-episode of Piecing It Together, I take a look at some of the movies that I am looking forward to over the next few months. This is really a place-holder since I'll be out of town for 10 days and I'll be getting back to town literally the day this episode posts... So rather than skip a week, I figured I'd record a little something to hold you over. So no, this is not our normal format in which we look at a new movie and try to figure out what other movies inspired it... This is just a fun little mini-episode.The song at the end of the episode is called "Head On Fire" from my album Head Like Fire. Also, today, May 18th is the release of my new album A Different Kind Of Dream. This album is available now on iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby, Bandcamp and pretty much anywhere music is available. Check it out and thanks so much for your support. On the 11th episode of Piecing It Together, we do something a little different...
