Synopsis
This is the English Martial Arts Podcast show where we talk about the Weapons and Unarmed arts contained within the English system. We will also talk about the principles of the system because the whole system is a principles based system. We will also be talking about other WMA and Hema based martial arts as well as talking to, and interviewing teachers and Masters (Maisters). I will be talking to Teachers and Masters of both Western and Asian disciplines which will give all listeners a deeper understanding of how similar in their outlook and practice the martial arts of the world are.We will also be concentrating on interviews with martial arts instructors from all walks of life and many different types of martial arts systems.

Martial art of purring
08/10/2019 Duration: 10minthe sometimes noble and often incredibly ignoble Lancashire martial art whereby a man repeatedly kicked opponents or victims as hard as he could. We return to the theme today because of the exciting news that a Purring Display is going up in Wigan Museum, a display which has been put together by Anna Smith: special congratulations to Anna and how I wish I was in the UK this spring! The image above is hers. There were essentially three types of purring in the eighteenth and nineteenth century: the golden age of purring stretched from the late 1700s to the late 1800s: Competitive purring: here two men stripped, sometimes naked, and fought it out using clogs. Blows were to be directed towards the feet and shins of opponents, though of course sometimes things got out of hand. We’ve given an excellent past instance of this that includes the memorable line ‘at the last kick… his shoe was half imbedded in the groin’ of his opponent. Force likely to cause death or great bodily harm is justified in self-defense only if a person reasonably believes that such force is necessary to prevent death or great bodily harm. The Right To Protect One's Person And Property From Injury. Mental self-defense is the ability to get into the proper mindset for executing a physical self-defense technique. Many martial arts schools and self-defense classes focus primarily on the physical nature of self-defense and often neglect the mental aspect. If you are skilled in the physical aspects of a defensive technique, but lack the mental toughness and tenacity to execute it, you will not be able to perform - especially under duress. Controlled environments cannot easily mimic the stress and adrenaline dump which occurs during an attack. There is a very real need to be able to enter the proper "mindset" if one is to have a realistic chance of surviving a potentially deadly encounter. Self-defence is a countermeasure that involves defending the health and well-being of oneself from harm. The use of the right of self-defense as a legal justification for the use of force in times of danger is available in many jurisdictions, but the interpretation varies widely. Physical self-defense is the use of physical force to counter an immediate threat of violence. Such force can be either armed or unarmed. In either case, the chances of success depend on a large number of parameters, related to the severity of the threat on one hand, but also on the mental and physical preparedness of the defender.
