Nerd Heresy

A D-rank movie at best, the nerds take issue with inconsistency and the political silliness of Star Wars. 

Avalon (2001), directed by Mamoru Oshii. - The nerds discuss what may still be the best film about video games and the nature of reality.

A Wrinkle in Time is a pretty good kids' movie with some messages that don't quite add up for us, which we discuss in length. If we were judging purely on the Leguizamo-Peña scale though, it'd be an S.

We were worried about this movie being too happy about child soldiers. We were right to be worried. Fun robot action if you can get past that, though.  

We discuss this year's installment of NBA 2K, which we've been playing since 2k16. It's good, especially if you want to learn more about basketball. We used it for a lot of fantasy basketball, ourselves.

When The Last Sword is Drawn is a newer samurai film (2003) than what we've been watching, about the Shinsengumi. It's pretty interesting, but it's got some issues. Swordfights are beautiful, though.  

Just a couple of nerds talking about Shadow of the Colossus, and remembering it. Both of us haven't played it in a while, but we heard the new one was coming out, so we decided to have a chat about it.   Our Patreon. (Recorded 11/2/2018)

Proud Mary was really fun from a family drama standpoint, and it only manages to not get an S rank because she didn't use the real sweet-lookin' rifle she had in her arsenal.  

We discuss the failings of Firefly, now that we've got a decade and a half of distance from it. We also compare it to Cowboy Bebop, and ruminate on what Joss Whedon probably thinks is cool.  

We discuss the Oscars a bit, and my sister's project, which allowed us the opportunity to have a reason to sit around and watch a lot of classic movies. The Oscars and highest grossing from year to year are hit-or-miss, and we've seen a lot, which lets us put things in context.  

Watching Hideo Gosha's works reminded us that we love movies, and love them enough to comment on them. Here, we talk about Hideo Gosha's early works, Goyokin, Tenchu, Three Outlaw Samurai, and Sword of the Beast.

Our first recorded episode! It has a few bumps, but we talk about The Shape of Water, which we absolutely loved.  

The nerds talk about the Stellaris expansion, and about how fanatical purifiers have to die.   

We're in agreement, it's an S-rank film, but it'd be better without Spy Bilbo.
