Synopsis
"Sweet Ermengarde" is a playful parody of sentimental melodramas popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The story follows the trials and tribulations of a young heroine entangled in romance, greed, and family secrets. With exaggerated characters and absurd twists, Lovecraft pokes fun at cliché-ridden plots, turning what might be a tale of love and inheritance into a tongue-in-cheek satire.
