In 2016, Colin Kaepernick chose to sit during the Nation Anthem as a form of peaceful protest to call out Police Brutality. When Green Beret Nate Boyer, who made it to the NFL as a member of the Seattle Seahawks, was asked to pen an opinion piece about the military perspective of Kaepernick’s decision, he decided to reach out. Bruce Maxwell's life changed because of one moment, one decision. The former A's catcher took a knee to protest racism and police brutality in 2017, a decision that still impacts him today.
