If we let mainstream media control our attitude, we would have a hopeless outlook on life. No matter what is going on in the world around us we have reasons to thank God. God has a plan for each of us...our job is to obey Him and fulfill His request. Many times we don't think we are capable of accomplishing the things He has planned for us which shows that we don't truly trust Him. Read 1 Samuel and see how Samuel waivered after doing God's will.

The story of the rich man and Lazarus is not one of Jesus' parables, but rather a true story. Some of the reason for believing that the story is not a parable are: 1) Jesus never said it was a parable; 2) No one asked him to explain it; 3) He names a certain man and specifics about the story; 4) There is no real life situation to compare it to like the parables, which are told in a way that the hearer can identify with their own life experiences; 5) Jesus never said anything that wasn't true. This story proves that there is life after death as is mentioned many times in the Bible. It is a place where sacrifices are made (eg: work for money to buy food); petitions are made (eg: asking your parents for certain permissions or items); fellowship (eg: close proximity with immediate family); prayers (eg: thanking God for blessings).
