2019 Aug What is Nu Disco?   First current set for 12 months with a lot of 2019 of releases. In China, other sets should follow.   For those enjoying the last rays of the European summer, take the set to the beach, for those who live at the bottom end, take it to the gym or a spin.   With the proliferation of House genres, I ended up buying a fair bit of nu disco, which prompted me to wonder what Nu Disco really is. I had started buying some tech House in late 2017, bored as I was with soulful beats and as always struggling mixing “real” full on Deep sets without any vocals. 2019 Aug Back in the Building (through the Deep Door)   Deep House, suitable for loungin’, eating, reading. I have been told “Deep House” is boring, my answer is right here, just give the music time to get to you. Do not force it.   I recently was eating in an upmarket restaurant in Rome. Setting was uber-cool as expected, food amazing but the soundscape was just passable. As it is the sort of brand of eateries found in most of the cool cities of the world, they can (should) command the perfect soundscape for dining.   The requirements are a great sound system able to project pure sound at a low volume and a crafter who understands that the sound has to adapt to the crowd volume. Late PM, early evening, we want to hear the sound, during full service, we do not, late service we do but at a low yet discernible volume. Finally, whoever puts it together needs to have a script, an intention and obey one simple rule: low, up, peak, low.   Nothing more irritating than background

2018 Aug Vols de Nuit (CX178)   Progressive House curated from 30,000 ft travelling to China. Your chillout companion or the appropriate soundscape to immerse yourself into a good book. Few vocals, deep progressive grooves and mostly current beats.   Most of you know Antoine de St Exupery only through the quizzical “Petit Prince” (The Little Prince”). For us French, he was a VERY bad fighter and postal pilot but an amazing writer. August 2018 “For Those Who Stayed”   Chilled Progressive House with a sprinkle of Balearic Trance. I love this one, I hope you will as well.   Some context: from late June to most of July, my family went to Europe on a holiday and I stayed in wintery Melbourne. My presence here was necessary and the start of a lot of positive things, yet, I was nonetheless bittersweet and lonely. World Cup notwithstanding, (Allez les Bleus), I missed them terribly.   Hence the darker and at times chilled and softer tone, interspaced with sun rays and Mediterranean rhythms and feel.   A very, very current set (even the 2017 drops are from very late 2017.
