Synopsis
Ever wish you had more than just one week per year to skip town, go nuts, rock out, and yell "Spring Break!" from the window of a moving vehicle? Damn right you do! Bobby Hazzard, The Colonel, Sweet Time, (occasionally) Stache Anderson, and all their friends share your concerns. They know you’re gonna need some tunes and maybe directions to the party. Discussions about records, bands, good brews, and other random bullshit regularly run off the rails as they stay up late and make some beer disappear.

Episode 39: CooperCast `74 - Muscle of Love
01/03/2016 Duration: 01h05minBobby and his special guests Dr. Gangrene, Troy from Naschycast, and Ms. Hazzard explore and comment on the Alice Cooper discography. Episode 38.5: SB4E Bonus - Lemmy & the Spaceman
04/02/2016 Duration: 43minTwo things that have sucked about 2016 thus far: Lemmy is gone. Then David Bowie passed shortly after that. We talk about the great jams from these guys and how they got into our heads. (Since we recorded this, the music world has also lost Clarence Reid a/k/a Blowfly, Paul Kantner, and Glenn "The Heat Is On" Frey. Raise a glass or three...) The Colonel finds a Donovan jam about the bathroom habits of astronauts that is maybe weird and silly enough to cheer you up in down times.

Episode 38: Spring Break 1788 - Auld Lang Syne
21/01/2016 Duration: 01h06minTime to air the old year out at the Fluff-N-Fold with our first episode in 2016! "What the hell does that mean?" you may well ask. It means our obligatory 2015 Best-Of run-downs, of course. In the process, we also get to drink Bobby's last remaining fancy Christmas beer and check out a doom rock 45 from 1972(!) that turns out to be a party jam.

Episode 37: Christmas Break '84 - Do They Know It's Springbreak?
23/12/2015 Duration: 01h28minJust in time to sully your holidaze, SB4E is back home for a visit. We're bringing some goodies though. How about a funky vintage Christmas jam by Rufus Thomas? Santa brought us an album of contemporary krautrock from Japan(?!) by a band called Minami Deutsch. And the latest album by Digital Leather "All Faded" should make a nice gift for somebody on your naughty list. And after the music talk, Slacks speaks on the merits of the latest Adam Sandler vehicle The Ridiculous 6 and declares a moratorium on podcast farts. We've also got some field recordings from the Christmas bash Bobby threw over at Stately Hazard Manor. Man, that party had everything... #1 fan Lee was there, as was Dr. Gangrene. Christmas horror movies were discussed. Gifts were given. There was a robot named Michelob Ultron. There were snacks, chiefly of the crunchy variety. Beer was turned into pee pee.

Episode 36: Fall Break '91 - Feed My Frankenstein
31/10/2015 Duration: 01h10minIn this special Halloween episode, Bobby sits down with Nashville horror movie host, Dr. Gangrene, and the lovely Ms. Hazzard. They discuss the good doctor's career as well subjects ranging from video store experience > Netflix, the horror movie host that Bobby grew up with, Count Murray, and the new Shudder movie app. There's also a discussion on whatever happened to Vinnie Vincent from Kiss. (Hint: he lives close by) Doc and Bobby toy with the idea of playing a show with opposing Alice Cooper tribute bands. Bobby takes this as a cue to talk about his Alice Cooper obsession. Then, they discuss the merits of Kiss Unmasked and the non-makeup Kiss era with Jeremy from The Exotic Ones. Finally, Bobby and Dr. Gangrene review their favorite heavy metal horror movies. A genre that's near and dear to them both.

Episode 35: Notes from Gonerfest 12 (Redux*)
02/10/2015 Duration: 48minMobile recordings from our long weekend in Memphis of seeing bands, digging for records, and drinking beer - all under the banner of Gonerfest 12! You'll hear us at our snackiest in the summary of Day 1 - so try to bear with it. (After that, Bobby wisely decided to record the rest of the updates after we'd slept it off a bit.) *After initial release of this episode, Bobby discovered that one of our transmissions from Memphis was missing. A whole segment had not gotten over the wires to the home office in Sandusky with the rest of the audio. Upon receiving a backup copy of the missing file, the production crew pulled an all-nighter to stitch in that other bit of reporting to complete this episode the way the SB4E crew intended.

Episode 34: Spring Break '72 - Summer Breeze
23/09/2015 Duration: 53minThe end of this summer brings some righteous jams, a la new albums by SB4E faves like Barreracudas ("Can Do Easy") and Royal Headache ("High"). And while we're talking records, let's also talk some record store etiquette this time around. Also: After last episode's exposure to Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats, The Colonel goes crazy and falls into an unforeseen rabbit hole of doom metal - much to the delight of Bobby and Stache.
-
Episode 33: Spring Break '84 - The Boys of Summer
10/09/2015 Duration: 01h10minJoin your SB4E hosts for scintillating roundtable coverage of topics including but not limited to: Dirty birds (the ones that go C2B), ways to improve state flags, joggin' while jerkin'. We've got a party jam from Cecil Holmes Soulful Sounds that would make Ric Flair holler "Woo!" Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats "Blood Lust" LP is serious, heavy business and may cause a weed smell to come out of your speakers. Warm Soda "Symbolic Dream" LP: Smooth or sad songs? Let's discuss, or just bullshit in lieu of discussion. Full disclosure: If some of the references in this episode sound a little dated here in September, that's because we recorded this back in May. We thought we'd lost this one in the great shitstorm of Summer '15, see. But we recovered it because shitstorms are temporary, but Spring Break? That's forever. Lucky you!

Episode 32: Bobby interviews TV's Daniel
26/08/2015 Duration: 01h11minYou'll recognize TV's Daniel from his roles in hit-making Texas bands such as Bad Sports, Wax Museums, Video, Radioactivity, and Mind Spiders just to name a few. Bobby Hazzard gets the lowdown from Daniel on what all of these groups have been up to lately, plus some hints at upcoming releases like a new Video LP (on Third Man Records!?!) and brand new project called Grave City. They also compare notes on hot-button topics such as the merits of Captain Sensible, Sonny Vincent shows, Alice Cooper albums, and rasslin' rock. Plus: On the intro, the SB4E crew is getting psyched up to head west on a little road trip.

Episode 31: Spring Break '88 - Blow My Fuse (w/ SB4E #1 fan, Lee!)
10/08/2015 Duration: 01h05min...Aaaand we're back! So our buddy Lee was in town recently, hanging with Bobby Hazzard. It also worked out that he could drop by the Fluff N' Fold to pinch hit for The Colonel who is absent from this week's show. Bobby and Lee talk about going to HorrorCon, hobnobbing with celebrity, and getting hosed on an autograph. Slaxxx speculates that Lee himself could be a cyborg. Everyone is in the mood for metal, so record talk revolves around albums by the likes of Mad Max, Killer, and Witchfudge (?). What's up, Lee?!?

Episode 30: Record Store Day recap 2015
30/04/2015 Duration: 01h05minAnother Record Store Day has come and gone. While it still draws big crowds to record stores, we've heard and read some grumbling that RSD has been largely hijacked by major label product. We discuss our opinions on this and check out tracks from some of the RSD releases we picked up, such as: 70s kiwi boogie glam by Bitch. Todd Snider covering The Rolling Stones and Flaming Lips covering David Bowie. Two killer 45s on Goner by Giorgio Murderer and Aquarian Blood. And the soundtrack to a B-movie called Bad Channels which features Blue Oyster Cult and some yodel polka (mutually exclusive, of course). Also: Slaxxx's cousin Fleetwood Bong shows up at the mention of the recent SB4E 420 mixtape. The Colonel is quite amused. Bobby Hazzard is much less so.

Episode 29: Spring Break '83 - Looks That Kill
16/04/2015 Duration: 59minGrab them cakes! It’s an action-packed week again in Springbreakland. We’ve got another rasslin’-related party jam, this one by Junkyard Dog. The Colonel gives a shout-out to The Brew Stooges taproom in Huntsville, Alabama as the gang enjoys a couple bottles of Founders Curmudgeon. Then we check out a recent 45 by Giuda and some non-soundtrack music by horror/sci-fi director John Carpenter. On the subject of movies, the Stones Throw Records documentary also gets discussed. And did you know that Thomas Jefferson Slave Apartments “Straight to Video” album has finally gotten a vinyl release? Plus: Bobby retires his title and tries to summarize a classic Motley Crue video. The Colonel acquires a can of Flarp and can’t stop making disgusting sound effects. “Fleetwood” Slacks has a new catchphrase or two. P.A. Dave is in the house and on the assist.

Episode 28: Spring Break '85 - Part Time Lover (w/ Rich Crook)
07/04/2015 Duration: 01h12minThis week we are psyched to have Rich Crook as our special guest at the Fluff-N-Fold! Rich has been in several bands that we love, like Lover!, Lost Sounds, Knaughty Knights, American Death Ray, and The Reatards. His latest project is a band called Thing, so we're talking about that and checking out some tracks from the forthcoming album on Solid Sex Lovie Doll Records. Plus we hang out and shoot the shit about some other records like the recent Really Red reissues, a glam 45 by Juvie with exceedingly randy cover art, and a party jam by The Hemingers. This one is a blast!

Episode 27: Spring Break '79 - What a Fool Believes
01/04/2015 Duration: 55minInstead of talking new releases this week, the guys look back into their collections for some vintage deep cuts in multiple genres. Naturally, this discussion is interspersed with impressions of a couple of 80s wrestlers. Plus: Bobby Hazzard wants to court sponsorship from Krystal. The Colonel narrowly avoids running afoul of the brass at the home office. Slacks with the save!

Episode 26: Spring Break '92 - Little Miss Can't Be Wrong (w/ Paul Painter of Adult Swim)
25/03/2015 Duration: 01h05sMore ATL connections this episode as Bobby does a man-on-the-street interview with Adult Swim collaborator Paul Painter. The guys also sip on a sticky-icky hoppy beer called Dank Tank from the Sweetwater brewery in Atlanta. In record reviews, we've got new international punk rock jams from Batman & Garage Kid (Germany) and a little band called First Base (Toronto) and some essential reissues for KBD fans from the likes of The Mad and Porno Cassettes. Plus: Questionable soundtrack rap. "Shartboy" finds himself in a sticky situation. The word "stumpfucker" is uttered several times. The guys banty about some potential band names. We address the heartbreak of "dollar bin duds" - the opposite of "dollar bin diamonds."

Episode 25: Spring Break '80 - It's Still Rock n' Roll to Me (w/ Ryan Dinosaur, Scavenger of Death Recs)
04/03/2015 Duration: 01h06minFreezing weather be damned! SB4E plows ahead with icy resolve. This week we talk to RYAN DINOSAUR (GG King Band / Predator / Scavenger of Death Records) about what's poppin' on the scene in Atlanta lately, plus some amusing road stories from the recent past. Then we check out some records: "Unending Darkness" is the latest LP by GG King. Feedtime just put out a new 45 on Sub Pop. Tiaras' self-titled debut has chops for fans of classic 80s alt-pop. Plus: Bobby declares himself "Jesus of Spring Break" after an encounter at Krystal. Sandusky home office mandates the inclusion of "party song of the week." The Colonel attempts to pair a record produced by Dan the Automator with a Dogfish Head beer that was ALSO produced by Dan the Automator. Slacks is surprised to learn that Tumblr isn't just for pornog.

Episode 24: Spring Break '92 - (I Hate) Everything About You
23/02/2015 Duration: 01h02min...But what's NOT to like about the variety of records coming out on the 12XU label these days? Let's check out some recent releases of note, such as: -Obnox "Boogalou Reed" LP-White Lion (OK, not on 12XU but we still like to bring them up)-John Schooley & Walter Daniels "Dead Mall Blues" LP-Flesh Lights "Free Yourself" LP-and a special pre-release preview of Blaxxx "For No Apparent Reason" EP (supergroup comprised of Bim from Obnox and Orville and Tom from OBN IIIs!) Plus: Slacks confuses Fleshlights (the "personal stimulator" product) with Flesh Lights (the band). The Colonel gives another classy poetry reading. Bobby Hazzard lays out the recipe for Fart in a Bottle.

Episode 23: Spring Break '91 - Losing My Religion
03/02/2015 Duration: 01h28minOh no, we’ve said too much… This is a marathon episode of SB4E with more than our usual quota of music and beer talk. But when it’s this cold out, a damn good time can be had drinking some brews and checking out killer records such as: -Matthew Melton "Outside of Paradise" LP (solo demos from Warm Soda/Bare Wires mastermind) -Talbot Adams "Green Girl" 7" (Black and Whites/Dutch Masters alumnus making more great solo pop) -Capital City Rockets LP (70s stompers from Ohio) -Sweeney Todd "Roxy Roller" 7" (Canadian glam featuring Nick Gilder and Bryan Adams?!?) -Ty Segall "Mr. Face" EP (parenthetical aside probably unnecessary) -Neil Norman "Phaser Laser" 7" (crazed 70s psych) -Michael Hayes "Badstreet USA" 7" (rasslin’ rawk!) PLUS: The Colonel and Slacks pull a switcharoo, bewildering Bobby. Lite beers all around! It’s an on-air taste-test of a sixer of Rammer Jammer (from Alabammer). Bobby Hazzard is un-enthused with the 2015 Royal Rumble and/or most any Keanu Reeves project. Slacks thinks at lea
