Synopsis

Ever wish you had more than just one week per year to skip town, go nuts, rock out, and yell "Spring Break!" from the window of a moving vehicle? Damn right you do! Bobby Hazzard, The Colonel, Sweet Time, (occasionally) Stache Anderson, and all their friends share your concerns. They know you’re gonna need some tunes and maybe directions to the party. Discussions about records, bands, good brews, and other random bullshit regularly run off the rails as they stay up late and make some beer disappear.

    04/02/2017 Duration: 01h11min

REPENT, YE SINNERS! And prepare thyselves to be judged by….ALICE COOPER?!? Yes, one day rock ‘n’ roll’s most hedonistic bad boy arose from his Budweiser-filled bathtub and remembered that he was once Vincent Furnier, son of a preacher man, and it was time that Alice got born again and brought the good word to the children. But, being this is ALICE, after all, there’s an awful lot of bone-burning, flesh-eating, ass-spanking, clown-fearing tough love on the way to salvation, and to get there you also gotta listen to 2000’s “BRUTAL PLANET” and 2001’s “DRAGONTOWN”, the albums under discussion on this, the 7th episode of COOPERCAST! As Alice judges the denizens of Brutal Planet and Dragontown (that means YOU, if you didn’t figure that out), so too does he get judged by your clean-living and morally-upright Coopercast team of Bobby Hazzard, the lovely Ms. Hazzard, Nashville’s physician of fright Dr. Gangrene, and Troy Guinn of the Naschycast. Join us as we wade through this musical metaphorical morass to get to the

  • I Hate Music 5 - Fuck You, I'm Rich

Bobby and Deuce discuss the old days - the SXSW show where everybody left after the Pricks played and Bobby's band was up next and also how the Hazzards first met at a Yuppie Pricks Summer Beach Party. Deuce tells great stories about the Pricks: getting kicked off of Alternative Tentacles, getting run out of Johnson City, TN, and why the band recently broke up (hint: it's a word that rhymes with dump). They also discuss Deuce's new band Duderonomy.

  • Coopercast 70 - Return Of The Spiders

    29/11/2016 Duration: 56min

Swing low, sweet cheerios! That’s essentially what your intrepid, decrepit Coopercasters are doing this time around, as we leave dear old Alice on the precipice of the year 2000, about to embrace the industrial metal age, and take the way-back deep-freezer to the late 60’s when he and his Alice Cooper Band compatriots are changing, arranging and embracing more musical trends than Spinal Tap and managing to sound like everything but the ACB the world would come to love and fear. Join host Bobby Hazzard, his lovely consort Ms. Hazzard, Nashville horror host Dr. Gangrene, and the Naschycast’s Troy Guinn as we examine some garage-rock “nuggets” released by the ACB band when they were known as The Spiders and The Nazz, followed by track-by-track discussions of the first two Alice Cooper Band albums, PRETTIES FOR YOU and EASY ACTION. In these early works, we find a band that can play the sh%t out of anything but thinks their appeal lies in the cult fringes of hippie freakout jams and Zappa-worshippers, and has no i

    20/11/2016 Duration: 01h17min

This month brings a gluttonous program for the week of Thanksgiving in which a conversation about the ideal soundtracks to our No Pants Sundays spins off into a discussion of creepy bubblegum pop hits and free sass.  Then we break down the good and bad (mostly bad) of the 1980s horror/musical/morality tale/compilation film "Night Train to Terror."  Finally, recollections of the first five albums each of us owned devolves into drunken singalongs and public shamings.

For Gonerfest 13, we delve into what we did, bands we saw (and some we didn't), and the shooting (?!?) with our special guests from Austin, Texas and Nashville, Tennessee. Rob Yazzie can't remember which name to call Bobby. Heel Turn Records head Honcho Gary drops in to talk about his label and video games. Mrs. Hazzard hates Bobby's driving. Shawn Carpetbagger waxes philosophically. All this and more! Plus music from bands we loved at Gonerfest. Dig it!

  • Episode 41.5: Final Episode (The B-side)

    21/09/2016 Duration: 57min

So this is what it has come to.  This is it.  This is the point where the train has run out of track, skidded off into the dust, rolled into a nest of beer snakes, exploded, and left nothing but a smoldering crater in the spot where once stood the Fluff N' Fold.  But at least we went out with a good buzz and some sweet tunes by the likes of Heavy Times, Poets of Rhythm, and Prix just to name a few.  It's been real.  It's been fun.  It's been real fun.  Thank y'all for coming on this ill-advised road trip with us.

  • Episode 41: Spring Break '91 - It's So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday

    23/08/2016 Duration: 49min

Yes, the rumors in the trade publications are true.  The Fluff N' Fold lost its lease back in the spring.  Then the master recordings of our last episode were temporarily tied up in Sandusky with William Joel's corporate bankruptcy proceedings before they were secured by deft legal wrangling from Stately Hazard Manor.  Presented here is the first half of a two-part episode chronicling SB4E's final fling at the Fluff N' Fold.  Spins are given to essential jams by Wheeler Walker Jr. as well as Hackamore Brick.  There is a (mercifully) brief cameo by Sociopathic Frank Nelson.  Numerous references are made to Slaxxx's beloved cousin Fleetwood Bong.  The Colonel pitches several names for a hypothetical series of "dad beers."  We wax nostalgic and lament the decline of parlor tricks.  And Bobby keeps on pourin' us beers like throwing gasoline at a fire.  Join us, won't you, for the beginning of the end...

  • Coopercast 91 - Hurricane Years

    30/07/2016 Duration: 01h14min

Welcome to Alice Cooper, late 80’s-early 90’s version, still testing and contesting with the musical trends, trying to find a comfortable crypt as the hair-anthems of the Eighties are giving way to the flannel-flyin’ grit of Nineties’ grunge. In this episode we traverse a trio of uneven but certainly NOT unworthy unspoolings of Alice: 1989’S TRASH, 1991’S HEY STOOPID, and 1994’S THE LAST TEMPTATION. It’s an odd array of killer riffs, hit-and-miss collaborations, slumming superstar guitar-slingers, montage-worthy choruses, face-palming ballads, phallic gun imagery, and even an appearance by Elvira, Mistress of the Dark! Plus, you’ll hear the launching of the first-ever Guy Mann-Dude fan club..and hear it close just as quickly. But where o where in all of this is Alice? That’s the question we’ll attempt to answer as your hosts Bobby Hazzard, the lovely Ms. Hazzard, physician of fright Dr. Gangrene, and Troy Guinn (of the Naschycast) journey deep into the eye of the hurricane to find if Alice has really become a

Join Bobby, Troy, Dr. Gangrene, and Ms. Hazzard as they delve into the Alice Cooper discography from 1980 to 1983. These were some dark and unusual times for Alice personally and musically. The records that came out in this period flirt with punk, new wave, hard rock, and synth pop. Lyrically, Alice's subject matter varies from cross dressing cops to rebellious clones to dyslexic love. Come take a wild ride with Coopercast as we explore what Alice refers to as his Blackout Albums.

  • Episode 40: CooperCast '77 - King of the Silver Screen

    15/03/2016 Duration: 01h03min

Join Bobby Hazzard, Ms. Hazzard, Dr. Gangrene, and Troy as they delve into the extreme highs and lows of Alice Cooper solo records in the late 70's. What name do the kids yell at the end of Department Of Youth? Is Lace & Whiskey actually a concept record? Why does Ms. Hazzard want to be called a "stumbling demented child queen?" Is it a good idea to have your alcoholic dad near black widows? All these questions and more are answered in this episode.
