  • The Spirit

    12/06/2022

Before Jesus died, he told his disciples not to be troubled or afraid. He comforted them, saying he would send a Helper, his Spirit, who would be with them always and would dwell within them, teach them, and help them remember all that he had taught. His Spirit would give them the peace of God. Today, Christ followers have this same promise — if you believe in Jesus and follow him, the Holy Spirit will live in you, guiding you and giving you peace. Listen as Pastor Morgan Renew preaches “The Spirit” from John 14:15–31.

  • The Way

    05/06/2022

On the evening before his death, Jesus’ disciples were troubled, but Jesus reassured them, saying, “You know the way to where I am going.” When Thomas questioned Jesus and said he did not know the way, Jesus responded, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” To know and love Jesus is to know and love his Father. The only way to everlasting life is through Jesus the Son. Jesus is the Way. Listen as Pastor Morgan Renew preaches “The Way” from John 14:1–14.

  • The Commandment

    29/05/2022

In John 13:1 we learned that the appointed time of Jesus’ death was during the Passover Feast. On the night before the feast, Jesus ate one last meal with his twelve disciples. It is there that Jesus revealed that he would be betrayed by one of his dearest friends, Judas. And yet, even in the face of betrayal and death, Jesus continues to minister to those whom he loved. Listen as Pastor Dave Furman preaches “The Commandment” from John 13:18–38.

  • Adopted as Sons: The Gospel's Highest Privilege

    22/05/2022

Those who have faith in the Son, Jesus Christ, become sons of God, heirs through Jesus to the promises made to Abraham. This privilege caused the apostle John to exclaim, “Behold what manner of love the Father has given unto us that we should be called sons of God! And that is what we are!” And in his letter to the Galatians, the apostle Paul expounds on what a gift it is to be a son of God. In this sermon Gulf Theological Seminary professor TJ Smith preaches “Adopted as Sons: The Gospel’s Highest Privilege” from Galatians 4:1–7.

  • The Betrothal

    15/05/2022

In Genesis 24 we read how the patriarch Isaac meets and marries his wife, Rebekah. The account tells us that Isaac is far from home when he quenches his thirst with water from a well. It is there that he first meets his future wife, Rebekah. He’s invited to a feast at her house, they become engaged, and the chapter ends with the consummation of their marriage. This pattern — boy, girl, well, water, feast, and marriage — is repeated in Genesis 29 with Jacob and Rachel and again in Exodus 2 with Moses and his wife, Zipporah. And in fact, this pattern emerges one final time in John 4 when Jesus meets the Samaritan woman at the well. Learn the significance of these betrothal scenes — and how they point to the marriage that is promised to God’s people — in this sermon as Gulf Theological Seminary professor Adam Brown preaches “The Betrothal” from Genesis 24.

  • See the Souls

    08/05/2022

As Jesus traveled, performing miracles, teaching, and sharing the good news of God’s kingdom, he looked with compassion upon the lost souls who had been neglected by their own religious leaders. As the true Shepherd, Jesus recognized his own and commanded his disciples to pray and ask God to send those who would lead and care for these tender souls. Listen as guest pastor Bobby Blakey of Compass Bible Church in California, USA, preaches “See the Souls” from Matthew 9:35–38.

  • The Foot Washing

    01/05/2022

“Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end” (John 13:1). On the eve of our Lord Jesus’s death on the cross, he, our God, humbled himself by washing the feet of those whom he loved. Jesus’s life was a life of service, of laying down his life for the sake of others. He draws us to himself, and calls us to follow him, denying ourselves and serving others in the way that he served us. Listen as Pastor Dave Furman preaches “The Foot Washing” from John 13:1–17.

  • The Call of Christ

    24/04/2022

In this sermon, guest preacher One Mokgatle, lead pastor of Rooted Fellowship in Pretoria, South Africa, preaches “The Call of Christ” from Mark 3:7–19. As he recounts the calling of the twelve disciples, Pastor One reminds us of what it means to be a disciple of Christ. We come to Jesus to be with Jesus himself, and to follow him means we are with him wherever he goes.

  • The Sent One

    17/04/2022

Preached by Pastor Dave Furman on Easter Sunday 2022, we see in John 12:37–50 that although Jesus performed countless miracles in the sight of multitudes, many still did not recognize him for who he truly is — the Messiah, come to save his people. Jesus responds that he is “The Sent One,” prophesied by Isaiah and sent by the Father to make him known and to give life to those who follow him.

  • The Hour

    10/04/2022

In the book of Zechariah, we read the prophesy that there would be a day when Israel’s king — the Messiah — would appear mounted on the humble foal of a donkey, bearing righteousness and salvation. In this week’s sermon, “The Hour,” from John 12:12–36, we see that Jesus is the fulfillment of that prophesy as he, accompanied by much fanfare, rides into Jerusalem on a colt. He is the foretold Davidic king. But unlike the political ruler that the people of Israel expected, Jesus says that his glorification and reign would be marked by death and sacrifice, not military or political victory. It is through the laying down of his life that Jesus brings salvation to not only the Jews but to all who call upon his name.

  • The Anointing

    03/04/2022

The scene in John 12:1–11 is of a dinner party in Bethany. Jesus’s disciples are present, as is Lazarus and his sisters, Martha and Mary. It was a meaningful and joyous time together as they looked forward to the upcoming Passover celebration, and they celebrated what Jesus had done in their presence — the restoration of Lazarus’s life after he had died from an illness. As they celebrate Jesus and the great things he had done, Mary does something significant — she takes an expensive perfume and anoints Jesus’ feet with it. And when Judas questions whether this is wasteful, Jesus commends her action and uses it to point to his own impending death. Listen as Pastor Dave Furman preaches “The Anointing.”

  • The Dead Man (Part 2)

    29/03/2022

We are told in John’s Gospel that John records the miracles and signs that Jesus did “so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.” In this sermon, Pastor Dave Furman preaches part two of “The Dead Man” from John 11:28–57 as he continues to look at the incredible sign of raising Lazarus from the dead. In this passage, you will see why Jesus is the resurrection and the life and that whoever lives and believes in him will never die.

  • The Dead Man (Part 1)

    20/03/2022

When Jesus learned that his beloved friend Lazarus was ill and likely to die, the Bible tells us that he stayed away, so that when he finally goes to the sick man, Lazarus is already dead and has been lying in a tomb for four days. In John 11:1–27, we witness how Jesus responds to this death — from his delay, to how he ministers to Lazarus’s sisters, his assurance of who he is and the power he possesses, his sorrow at his friend’s death, and finally, with his resurrection of the dead man. Listen as Pastor Dave Furman preaches part one of “The Dead Man.”

  • Ambassadors of Reconciliation

    13/03/2022

Jesus Christ gave his life in order to restore the relationship of sinful people to their holy and perfect God. And as God’s forgiven and redeemed people, new creations in him, we are ambassadors of his love and mercy to those around us, employing both our words and our lives to entreat others to come to him to be reconciled. Listen as Gulf Theological Seminary professor T.J. Smith preaches “Ambassadors of Reconciliation” from 2 Corinthians 5:18–21.

  • Christ Was That Rock

    06/03/2022

The Israelites were a hard-hearted and stubborn people who, in the face of God’s love and provision for them, continued to grumble against him. In Exodus 17:1–7, we read that they tested the LORD, but instead of judging them, God incredibly takes the judgment on behalf of his people. In this sermon, Pastor Marwan Aboul-Zelof of City Bible Church in Beirut, Lebanon, (and former Redeemer pastoral intern) preaches “Christ Was That Rock.”

  • A Living Hope

    27/02/2022

In his letter to Christians scattered throughout Asia Minor, the apostle Peter instructed them to be prepared to give a reason for the hope that they possessed. In his sermon “A Living Hope” from 1 Peter 1:3–5, guest preacher Shea Sumlin reminds us of the living, imperishable, undefiled, and unfading hope that we possess through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

  • The Day of the Lord

    22/02/2022

In “The Day of the Lord” from Zechariah 14:1–21, Pastor Morgan Renew concludes our series on Zechariah. As we study this passage, we see that even as we live in a day of small things, the day of the Lord is coming and that on that day, God will be king over all the earth, bringing judgment and vindicating his people. And as we look forward to that glorious day, we remember that today, however, is the day of God’s favor, the day of salvation, and that we need to turn from our sins and put our faith and trust in God’s chosen Messiah, Jesus.

  • The Pierced Shepherd

    13/02/2022

When do you most need to remember Jesus’ victory over sin? Zechariah 12—13 pictures a great battle where God will fight for and protect his people from their enemies. The victory, though, comes as God himself is “pierced.” Though written hundreds of years before Jesus’s death on a cross, this text gives us a clearer picture of the salvation that has been won for us in Christ. Listen as Pastor Morgan Renew preaches “The Pierced Shepherd.”

  • The Shepherds of God's Flock

    06/02/2022

“Rejoice greatly…! Shout aloud…! Behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he,” is the oracle that came to Zechariah from God. The people of Israel had returned from exile back to Jerusalem and had rebuilt God’s temple, but still they were a disobedient people under the leadership of evil rulers. The LORD of hosts promises that he is sending a rejected shepherd to be their restored King and in doing so, he will restore the land and his people. Listen as Pastor Morgan Renew preaches “The Shepherds of God’s Flock” from Zechariah 9:1—11:17. Let us together praise our good shepherd, Jesus, “for how great is his goodness, and how great his beauty!”

  • Fasting and Feasting

    30/01/2022

As we come to Zechariah 7:1—8:23 this week, we see that God is determined to seek and bless his people for no other reason than that it is his desire to do so. As a result, God’s people are to feast and rejoice, responding to God’s magnanimity with love and obedience. And it’s this thankful, obedient, rejoicing people who God will use to draw the nations to himself! Listen as Pastor Morgan Renew preaches “Fasting and Feasting.”
