BirdSong - TWB69
01/07/2017 Duration: 37minI wrote a story called King Up High about a man who must make it from opposite ends of the city to a high-rise building during the most dangerous day of the year: Purge Night. This short story became an audio drama that is now a podcast episode, Birdsong. I hope you enjoy this special presentation and don't be shy to tell me what you think. Special thanks goes out to Alysa, Mikey, and Chris "The Rupel" for helping voice characters in this story. Birdsong is long overdue but worth the experience of creating. Purge Fiction? Although it’s not a great franchise, the concept at the impetus of The Purge films is a terrific plot device that could explore the deepest, darkest, recesses of the human psychosis without having to wow audiences with the bang and booms of “quote” a typical blockbuster movie. For me, it’s the stories of the people trapped inside this world that are intriguing and horrific. A few coworkers and I were talking about how effed up the tales within this insane world of The Purge could be. How t

Wonder Woman Triumphs - TWB68
24/06/2017 Duration: 32minIs Wonder Woman as much a triumph for women within the Hollywood industry is it just a much-needed victory for Warner Bros. and the DCEU universe? Unlike the movies from its cinematic predecessors, Wonder Woman opened the weekend to prescreening praise and that highly sought after Rotten Tomatoes score. With so much animosity over the validity of critics these days and the effect they have on a film's opening success at the box office, one can indeed argue that good word of mouth can and will influence how a film is received by potential ticket buyers. Failures of titles like Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman placed a stigma on all future releases within this DC comic book movie franchise, but is it fair to judge a film based on the success of a franchise? As much bad wrap as those films received, they have a good return on investment, ultimately making that film a studio success. Wonder Woman, DC's first highly touted film, scored big with positive ratings from critics associated with the popular movie web

Guardians of The Galaxy 2, A Celestial Opus - TWB67
23/05/2017 Duration: 44minGuardians of the Galaxy is a celestial space painting that maintains the fun of the comic book genre with bright lights, witty banter, and a great soundtrack to overlay what is another great achievement for every VFX artist, writer, and cinematographer who worked to make this film an enjoyable and successful sequel. If you strip away the cosmic space battles, celestial beings, and a talking trash monkey, you have a western and the Guardians of the Galaxy are just cowboys. So, for my main dish, I want to “discuss space as a great setting for the modern day western (or comic book movie). With studios concentrating so much of their yearly budgets on blockbuster films, they are releasing fewer films each year, which hurts movie theater chains and invites the question: are online services, like, Netflix killing movies. Oooh, such a saucy debate. I don’t think Netflix is killing movies, but I do believe it’s making the market very competitive.

Under My Shell is A Ghost - TWB66
22/04/2017 Duration: 45minWhite washing aside let's talk about how the live action Ghost In the Shell rinsed away the essence of a completely good storyline for the appeal of everyone who did not read the manga, watch the 1995 anime or the Standalone Complex series and likely never will. In other words, the mass audience of movie goers who could care less about a cyborg who feels. I know, lets cast Scarlett Johansson! That'll bring butts to the theater seats. Old Man Logan - TWB65
11/03/2017 Duration: 01h05minLogan isn't a statement to harold Rated-R comic book movies; it's not a good adaptation of the comic book series,; it's not the best superhero themed movie. What Logan is, is a good movie about the fate of a man whose life was no longer worth fighting to defend.

Split Over Shyamalan - TWB63
11/02/2017 Duration: 32minWill audiences remain Split over M. Night Shyamalan? Short answer, yes. Long answer, here in this episode. For starters: the newer generation or Millennials are unwitting to Shyamalan's filmmaking pedigree. They did not have to suffer or endure the turbulent times of the early 2000’s when Shyamalan made films consistently. People bought tickets wanting that good old feeling from The Sixth Sense and in return received Signs; which we learned alien hate is real, The Village; maybe too much twist in the twist ending; and Lady in the Water, too much talking, no ghosts. Moviegoers today are unaware of the seesaw ride Shyamalan put us through after The Sixth Sense debut at the 2003 Cannes Festival (the movie tied with Captain Conan that year for the top prize). Shyamalan was heralded as the next Alfred Hitchcock or some offshoot of the famous British Master of Suspense. We expected each film he produced after Sixth Sense to frightened the bejeezus out of us with his shrillmatic style. However, that didn’t happ

A Wonderful Diehard Christmas - TWB62
31/01/2017 Duration: 54minMy attempt to find some correlation between Die Hard and It's A Wonderful Life. They said it would be impossible, challenge accepted! John McClain, a New York cop visiting Los Angeles for the holidays stumbles upon a band of would-be terrorists who take over the building of his wife's employer. Only true fans consider Die Hard a Christmas movie. Headshots and maniacal Germans; it’s not exactly the true definition of a holiday movie. The movie is rated R but so is Love Actually and we love that raunch-laden film. Try to sell Diehard to a family undecided on what to watch after dinner and unwrapping present and you're sure to be outvoted and stuck with watching the same ol’ classics from the early age of black and white film. Classics such as A Christmas Carol (1938), Scrooge (1935), and A Miracle on 34th Street (1947) are the instant go to movies for the genre neutral family dynamics. These are grade A movies with wholesome storylines that really bring forth the true meaning of Christmas and goodwill to

Floating on The Edge of Seventeen - TWB60
29/11/2016 Duration: 01h17minEdge of Seventeen A coming of age story about a girl just dealing with the trials and tribulations of being a teenager. The joy about this film is that it takes you along the emotional rollercoaster that spans thirty days this young lady’s life. You feel the high and lows of what is a great depiction of the life of a teenager dealing with whatever good and bad comes her way. Bleed For This Great story. Bad movie. With such a great cast, this movie lacked the emotional depth of say a Raging Bull and Rocky. Why is it that boxing movies or movies related to boxing feel the need to showcase more of the sport than the emotional and psychological aspect the athletic endures during training and after fighting. There was no need to show this character getting pummeled in the ring when he had to fight through so much after being broken by a tragic event not related to boxing. This, That, and The Other News Article 1 - A man dissolves in a hot spring when attempting to find a spot to “hot-pot.” After wandering off

The Arrival of Aliens From Outer Space - TWB59
22/11/2016 Duration: 01h23minAn Appetizing Review: “Arrival", the new movie starring Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner. Based on the short story "The Story of Your Life" by Tim Chaing, Arrival is a metaphysical alien to Earth story which tells the story of a linguist who is recruited to help the government deal with an alien visitor. We asked the question: What if humans had a simultaneous consciousness and could discern the future? If we know the future and there is no free will how does one exist with the knowledge of knowing what life indefinitely has in store for you? Live in the now and be an alien in your own skin and look at the world and life with curiosity and the propensity to learn. Scene Again: The Story of Your Life by Ted Chaing The Main Course Movie Dish: It Came From Outer Space (1953) is a movie about what? Aliens who have come to earth for some reason or another and only one person from the town nearby their landing spot knows of their arrival. Twilight Delight: The Monster Are Due on Maple

So "even though they are the top craftsmen in their field," Witlin says, "if we pay them under a vastly different system than the people who do the 99.9 percent of the work, that is going to create far more problems for the video game companies.”Source: http://www.npr.org/sections/alltechconsidered/2016/10/22/498954253/voice-actors-strike-against-video-game-companies Note From the Hosts This quote pretty much demeans voice actors and th

From The Mat To The Screen: Hulk Hogan - TWB52
20/09/2016 Duration: 01h19minThis episode begins a series of recordings centered around stars from the wide world of wrestling who transitioned from the mat to the big screen. Hulk Hogan was one the first prolific wrestlers from the Golden Age to attempt branching out of wrestling and extend his popularity to the movies where his over-the-top persona could possibly bloom a career apart from slaps, punches, and body slams. Movie Reviews Chris watched "The Wild Life" and walked out. Apparently, this Robinson Curoso-esque movie could not hold his attention for the ninety-minute duration of the movie. JJ watched "Sully "and explains this movie as Clint Eastwood fighting with kids gloves on. This was the story of the Landing on The Hudson without the Hollywood touch. Clint did his job with this film and just told the story as Captain Sullinger only landing the plane. Chris Quote: "The perfect movie for your grandma." Movie Suggestion of the Week: Suburban Commando 1. Shelly Duvall Did Stanley Kubrick break Shelly Duvall? She was good
