I wrote a story called King Up High about a man who must make it from opposite ends of the city to a high-rise building during the most dangerous day of the year: Purge Night. This short story became an audio drama that is now a podcast episode, Birdsong. Is Wonder Woman as much a triumph for women within the Hollywood industry is it just a much-needed victory for Warner Bros. and the DCEU universe? Unlike the movies from its cinematic predecessors, Wonder Woman opened the weekend to prescreening praise and that highly sought after Rotten Tomatoes score. With so much animosity over the validity of critics these days and the effect they have on a film's opening success at the box office, one can indeed argue that good word of mouth can and will influence how a film is received by potential ticket buyers. Failures of titles like Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman placed a stigma on all future releases within this DC comic book movie franchise, but is it fair to judge a film based on the success of a franchise? As much bad wrap as those films received, they have a good return on investment, ultimately making that film a studio success.   Guardians of the Galaxy is a celestial space painting that maintains the fun of the comic book genre with bright lights, witty banter, and a great soundtrack to overlay what is another great achievement for every VFX artist, writer, and cinematographer who worked to make this film an enjoyable and successful sequel. If you strip away the cosmic space battles, celestial beings, and a talking trash monkey, you have a western and the Guardians of the Galaxy are just cowboys. So, for my main dish, I want to “discuss space as a great setting for the modern day western (or comic book movie). With studios concentrating so much of their yearly budgets on blockbuster films, they are releasing fewer films each year, which hurts movie theater chains and invites the question: are online services, like, Netflix killing movies. Oooh, such a saucy debate. I don’t think Netflix is killing movies, but I do believe it’s making the market very competitive.

White washing aside let's talk about how the live action Ghost In the Shell rinsed away the essence of a completely good storyline for the appeal of everyone who did not read the manga, watch the 1995 anime or the Standalone Complex series and likely never will. In other words, the mass audience of movie goers who could care less about a cyborg who feels. I know, lets cast Scarlett Johansson! That'll bring butts to the theater seats. Logan isn't a statement to harold Rated-R comic book movies; it's not a good adaptation of the comic book series,; it's not the best superhero themed movie. What Logan is, is a good movie about the fate of a man whose life was no longer worth fighting to defend.

Will audiences remain Split over M. Night Shyamalan? Short answer, yes.  Long answer, here in this episode.   For starters: the newer generation or Millennials are unwitting to Shyamalan's filmmaking pedigree. They did not have to suffer or endure the turbulent times of the early 2000’s when Shyamalan made films consistently. My attempt to find some correlation between Die Hard and It's A Wonderful Life. Edge of Seventeen A coming of age story about a girl just dealing with the trials and tribulations of being a teenager. The joy about this film is that it takes you along the emotional rollercoaster that spans thirty days this young lady’s life. You feel the high and lows of what is a great depiction of the life of a teenager dealing with whatever good and bad comes her way.   Bleed For This Great story. Bad movie. With such a great cast, this movie lacked the emotional depth of say a Raging Bull and Rocky. Why is it that boxing movies or movies related to boxing feel the need to showcase more of the sport than the emotional and psychological aspect the athletic endures during training and after fighting.
