The album sounds like Built To Spill dipped in some Ben Kweller & OK GO, injected with some Superdrag then run through the machine that gave The Strokes that Lo-Fi sound. .It’s like he reaches in to my soul and pulls out all my teen angst from the 90s and sings it back to me in familiar melodies.My only issue with the record is that the lo-fi overdriven vocal holds the record back from its true potential, I think it limits the accessibility of these pop gems. http://mikekrol.bandcamp.com/album/power-chords Lizzie’s

In a unanimous decision, the US Supreme Court held that states could not deny the natural right to associate via marriage by using state violence to imprison those who wished to enter a politically disfavored relationship. This case shines a spotlight on the horrendous racism institutionalized in our government a mere 50 years ago. We are still working on it.

They keep just enough of the metalcore roots to feel legitimately hard while washing it over in modern guitar prog. I’m not usually into the metal vocal this much but it’s surrounded by so much dissonant musicality and sing-along hooks it’s hard to look past it. In a 5-4 decision, the SCOTUS declares that the state may use eminent domain under the Fifth Amendment’s Taking Clause because “economic development” is a “public use.” In other words, Josette Kelo and others could be forced out of their homes because the government wanted to use their property for commercial development. As Justice O’Connor’s dissent points out, this case effectively repealed the “public use” requirement of the Fifth Amendment.

There’s messages in every game. Like Pac-Man. Do you know what the PAC stands for? P-A-C: Program and Control. He's program and control man, it's a metaphor. He thinks he's got free will but really he's trapped in a maze, in a system, all he can do is consume, he's pursued by demons that are probably just in his own head, and even if he does manage to escape by slipping out one side of the maze, what happens? Clarence Earl Gideon was charged with a felony in a Florida state court. He asked for an attorney but was denied under the then existing Florida law. Acting pro se, he was convicted and sentenced to five years in prison. The SCOTUS, in a unanimous ruling, declared that the state can not exercise its power to jail a criminal defendant unless it provides an attorney. The Sixth Amendment “right to counsel” is actually a limitation on government power. When he was retried, with a lawyer this time, he was acquitted after less than an hour of jury deliberation. I would describe it as Chon meets Built To Spill meets Boys Night Out. The songs all have intricate & interesting parts but somehow it manages to be a singalong manufacturing device at the same time.
