  • 148: Is It Okay to Meal Plan and Food Prep as an Intuitive Eater?

    11/02/2020 Duration: 21min

There are so many misconceptions about intuitive eating, one of the biggest ones is that it’s anti-health and you cannot care about nutrition, health and wellness. The reasons, however, that health and wellness is pursued as an intuitive eater is very different than the diet culture infused versions of health and wellness.    So can you practice meal planning and food prepping as an intuitive eater?   Absolutely!   Important distinction: make sure you are in a healthy place with it first, though. If you are using it to control your food, it would be important to take a break until you can come back to it in a more fluid, healthy way. Think of it like the exercise conversation, just because we ask at times for exercise breaks, for example pausing on exercise until you get your period back if its missing, that doesn’t mean its a forever thing. Just like exercise too, meal planning and food prepping should enhance your life, bring joy or reduce stress, it shouldn’t be about controlling your body, controlling you

    07/02/2020 Duration: 54min

A few episodes ago (in episode 144 on allowing yourself to grieve your here and now body) we discussed one of the first, critical stages of body acceptance. Yet, how do you go from hating your body to then accepting it?  Today’s podcast episode explores how to move from hating your body and grieving it, to then feel tolerant and neutral towards it and work towards body (and more importantly, self) acceptance. Our guest on today’s show, Alissa Rumsey, is one of my favorite non-diet dietitians in the intuitive eating space and she’s amazing at chatting about body image work. In this episode, you’ll get tangible tips for how to work to accept your body (in time!) and we also discuss in detail what it actually means to develop and have a healthy body image.  In this episode we discuss in detail: Alissa’s journey to becoming a non-diet dietitian and making the shift in her career to

  • 132: Understanding How to Apply Gentle Nutrition

    03/12/2019 Duration: 20min

If you’ve never heard of the term gentle nutrition before, this is the approach and mindset to applying nutrition in the intuitive eating paradigm. Gentle nutrition allows for individuality understanding we all feel different eating different ways, for our own convictions and values, and for our own health needs, too. • 130: Do You Know What’s in Your Skincare Products? (Plus Simple Swaps to Make)

    26/11/2019 Duration: 16min

I want to start off this conversation by saying...Our bodies are made for detoxing and equipped to handle toxins, chemicals, stress and inflammation- so many of the taboo words in the health and wellness world.   The problem is not that we should avoid all these things forever and freak out if we ever use a soap that has fragrance, or buy a deodorant with aluminum or eat an inflammatory food (whatever that means...because truly everyone has a different opinion and one of my biggest complaints with the clean eating concept).   The problem is when these things because daily and consistent in our lives. Yes, our bodies are equipped, but when the load is daily- it can become too much. And conventional beauty and makeup products can be one of the biggest contributors to that daily toxic load...I mean think about it- how many times a day and how many products do you use daily on your skin and face?   Plus, there are so many factors that are outside of our control, becoming mindful about what we can be intentional a
