  • 305: A 30 Day Abstinence Journey from Perfectionism and Exercise Addiction with Lauren Sheehey

    15/10/2021 Duration: 46min

Wow today’s episode is AWE INSPIRING. I am honored to have guest Lauren Sheehey on the podcast today to talk with you about the mask of perfectionism, and her 30 day abstinence journey from perfectionism and exercise. A quick trigger warning: we do discuss trauma and sexual assault in today’s episode.   Lauren Sheehey is a writer, meditation teacher, relentless creative, and most recently a new mom. For years, she worked with clients around the world as a Lifestyle Development Coach; her work focused exclusively on guiding women through their healing, empowerment, and self-actualization with a fully integrated, mind-body approach.    Now, Lauren is translating this work into motherhood and facilitating deep-dive conversations on her podcast, Hungry for More. She has witnessed, first-hand, the power of inviting women to tell, own, and write their stories. She knows that showing up and sharing oneself in a way that is unapologetically real and raw is ultimately the path to revolution.    You can find her writin

  • 304: Beauty Ideals and Body Image

    12/10/2021 Duration: 08min

In this episode, let’s chat about beauty ideals and body image. Because today’s unrealistic standards for what is beauty, and the societal standards we experience, absolutely sets the stage for our own body image beliefs.   I mean how could it not? Sit and think about this: what are the images of women you saw growing up? What did they look like? I know for me it was Barbie dolls and princesses on Disney. What were your mothers or other adult women around you talking about as you grew up? For me, dieting and controlling food and our bodies was just the norm of what conversations among women looked like.   Listen to today’s episode to learn how beauty ideals impact your own body image, and the differences between self expression versus self objectification.   In this episode I reference the books: The Beauty Myth, Invisible Corset and More Than a Body.   Today’s episode is brought to you by our signature program, Food and Body Peace Playbook (FBPP). FBPP is an 8 week online course & group coaching program

  • 302: Goals as a Dieter vs. Goals as an Intuitive Eater

    05/10/2021 Duration: 13min

Today I want to talk to you about the differences between how we set goals as a dieter, versus how we set goals with intuitive eating and body image work. Because I could imagine, for some of you, this is actually what’s holding you back and keeping you stuck- unable to truly move into your intuitive eating journey.   Setting goals as a dieter tends to be short term and weight or appearance based. Even if it is health related, it tends to have a weight equals health approach, and still comes back to weight loss.    Yet I find that setting goals as a dieter rarely leads people to actually feeling as if they’ve created sustainable health habits that stick. Rarely do people create health habits that they will have for the rest of their lives through dieting. Honestly, I find dieting tends to do the exact opposite.    It tends to make people hate eating vegetables because they force themselves to eat only raw carrots and steamed, unflavored broccoli. So they think that all vegetables lack flavor. Dieting tends to

  • 286: Setting Boundaries in Your Intuitive Eating Journey

    10/08/2021 Duration: 15min

“You’ve gained weight, are you pregnant?” I will never forget the moment when a co-worker said this to me so casually as she passed me in the parking lot.   I wasn’t pregnant. I had been gaining weight because I was healing my relationship with food. And at that time in my life, I was *deeply* uncomfortable with it. I can’t remember what I said back to her but I do remember going to my car and crying about it.   I can’t help but wonder if I had understood how to stand up for myself and had clear boundaries about what was allowed to be said to me, how that conversation might have changed.   So in today’s episode I am going to give you some examples of setting boundaries in hopes it helps you continue in your intuitive eating journey.   So much of what will help in the intuitive eating journey is provided in our program, Food and Body Peace Playbook, a step by step guide for how to make peace with food, respect your body and live wellness without obsession.   This program was formerly called Permission Stage P
