Letters to the 7 Churches, Part 7 - Laodicea
16/08/2021 Duration: 47minPastor David Walt concludes the series on the letters written to seven churches found in the beginning of the book of Revelation (last book in the New Covenant). The author of each letter is Jesus. The seventh letter is to the church in Laodicea, a very wealthy city. The leaders thought they were rich and needed nothing. Jesus, however, calls them "lukewarm". It was not a compliment but most likely not for the reason you think! Pastor David explains the true meaning and the sobering message Jesus has for the church then and now. Letters to the 7 Churches, Part 6 - Philadelphia
01/08/2021 Duration: 52minIn part six of the series from the letters to the seven churches found in the beginning of the book of Revelation (last book in the New Covenant), Pastor Marc Sharp teaches from the letter to the church in Philadelphia. The author of each letter is Jesus. Christ told the church at Philadelphia that he was not only the holy one, but also the true one (singular). He assures them that he is not only holy and true, but he is in charge and has been given both the throne and authority of King David, as promised! Philadelphia was commended because when everything was against them, they kept God’s word and did not deny his name. They were unmovable in their Christian duties even as the hounds of hell bore down on them. Today's service also includes a special time of prayer for Jason Sharp as he departs for Idaho to complete his academic goals. Letters to the 7 Churches, Part 5 - Sardis
26/07/2021 Duration: 45minIn a continuation of our series from the letters written to seven churches found in the beginning of the book of Revelation (last book in the New Covenant), Pastor Marc Sharp discusses the letter to the church in Sardis. The author of each letter is Jesus. in Sardis, things looked great! They were the talk of the town, things were popping! But in reality, things were much more dire than they could imagine. The church’s character can’t be hidden by hypocrites who try to polish their image, or faithful sufferers feeling forgotten in trial. Jesus really knows his church! Letters to the 7 Churches, Part 4 - Thyatira
19/07/2021 Duration: 50minToday's message is a continuation by Pastor Marc Sharp of our series from the letters written to seven churches found in the beginning of the book of Revelation (last book in the New Covenant). The author of each letter is Jesus. The letter today is number four and is written to the church in Thyatira. It is presented as the “words of the Son of God”. This letter, at both the beginning and end, points to Psalm 2, the great Psalm of the Messiah. There we find God’s chosen King revealed to be the very Son of God! Letters to the 7 Churches, Part 3 - Pergamum
11/07/2021 Duration: 51minPastor Marc Sharp continues our series from the letters written to seven churches found in the beginning of the book of Revelation (last book in the New Covenant). The author of each letter is Jesus. In today's third letter message, to the church in Pergamum, Jesus identifies himself more intensely than in the other letters. According to the scripture, Pergamum was where Satan's throne is and where Satan dwells. Christians in Pergamum faced pagan resistance that could get them arrested, tortured or killed for their faith in Jesus. This letter to Pergamum teaches us that those who walk in the fear of the Lord have nothing to fear from him and will receive his mercy, but those who treat Christ with contempt have reason to fear and tremble. Letters to the 7 Churches, Part 2 - Smyrna
04/07/2021 Duration: 49minPastor Marc Sharp continues the series from the seven letters written to seven churches found in the beginning of the book of Revelation (last book in the New Covenant). The author of each letter is Jesus. The second of the seven letters to the churches is addressed to Smyrna, a harbor city in what is now modern-day Turkey. Smyrna was beautiful with paved streets, a library, gymnasium and shrine to the Greek writer Homer, who may have been born there. It was known for its temple to the goddess Cybele, as well as Imperial Cult temples to Caesars Tiberius and Hadrian. The Smyrnan's knew that the hour of their death was imminent. Yet they were told “Do not fear what you are about to suffer”. This letter puts death (both for them and for us) in proper perspective. Letters to the 7 Churches, Part 1 - Ephesus
27/06/2021 Duration: 54minIn today's message, Pastor Marc Sharp begins a new series from the seven letters written to seven churches found in the beginning of the book of Revelation (last book in the New Covenant). The author of each letter is Jesus. The first letter is written specifically to the church in Ephesus, a city in modern day Turkey. Each of these letters is a microcosm of the message of the entire book, assuring believers of the closeness, intimacy, care and reign of Christ. Christians are warned to avoid worldliness, idolatry and compromise. A glorious future is described for those believers who are faithful to the very end! The Minor Prophets, Part 11 - Malachi
20/06/2021 Duration: 48minIn this Fathers Day message, Pastor Marc Sharp concludes the series on the minor prophets with the book of Malachi, the last book of the Old Covenant. The people are walking in unbelief regarding God's promises, and have hardened hearts toward the God of their fathers. Through Malachi, God answers questions the discouraged people ask about him, reminding them of his covenant faithfulness, his worthiness, and his promises. He reminds them they are in the state they are in, not because he has been unfaithful, but because they have been. God wants godly offspring to delight in. The way he achieves this is no longer through the law, but through grace purchased by Jesus on the cross! The Minor Prophets, Part 10 - Zechariah
13/06/2021 Duration: 46minPastor Marc Sharp continues the series on the minor prophets with the book of Zechariah, the longest of the twelve books. In some ways it is a difficult book to understand and often neglected by Christians. Zechariah is often referred to in the New Testament, with about 54 passages from Zechariah echoed in about 67 different places in the NT, with the lion’s share of these found in the book of Revelation. Though it was written to a people in the 6th Century BC, and addressed their real world concerns and challenges, it speaks comforting promises to us as well, if we have ears to hear what it tells us about God’s love for us today. This world is not our ultimate homeland, and we need to understand that God is in control even when it seems at times that he isn’t. The future he has planned for us is bright, hopeful and absolutely guaranteed by the One who can’t lie! The Minor Prophets, Part 9 - Haggai
07/06/2021 Duration: 42minThe book of Haggai is presented by Pastor Marc Sharp as he continues the series on the minor prophets. In Haggai, God is portrayed as the Sovereign One who controls the fortunes of both his people and of the nations. He controls nature, motivates his people to action, and establishes and deposes kings and kingdoms. However, the things of God were not being attending to by his people. Instead, they pursued comfort, economic security, even prosperity, while God’s interests were totally neglected. Likewise, today people will attach themselves to churches, ministries, and theologies, but not to Jesus. They will do the bare minimum to claim an association with the people of God, all the while ignoring the things of God! The Minor Prophets, Part 8 - Zephaniah
30/05/2021 Duration: 45minThe series on the minor prophets is continued by Pastor Marc Sharp. Today's message is from the book of Zephaniah. As other prophets have done, Zephaniah confirms that judgement is coming, for among the people no one truly inquires of God at all. They have exchanged truth for cultural acceptance. They say in their hearts, “The Lord will not do good, nor will he do ill.” They stupidly believe that God is powerless to either judge or bless. Then suddenly Zephaniah switches to promises of a hopeful future for all peoples, and he uses some of the most hopeful and joyous language found in the Minor Prophets to do this. He tells everyone who will listen that the Day of the Lord is a day where the wicked perish and the righteous are rescued and redeemed. This not only has immediate implications for Judah and the rest of the world, it also has implications for us who live at the end of the ages! The Minor Prophets, Part 7 - Habakkuk
24/05/2021 Duration: 47minPastor David Walt continues the series on the minor prophets with the three-chapter book of Habakkuk. While similar in message to the other minor prophets, the method of delivery is different and reflects the personal, conversational relationship Habakkuk had with God. The Minor Prophets, Part 6 - Nahum
16/05/2021 Duration: 43minPastor Marc Sharp continues the series on the minor prophets with the book of Nahum. Nahum is a sequel to the book of Jonah and sheds new light on Nineveh's “happy ending”. Nineveh did not live “happily ever after”, but instead returned to it’s greedy, imperialistic ambitions, which were achieved through cruelty. Nahum comes on the scene to declare that Nineveh’s alarm has rung, and there is no snooze button. Time is up! But what does this mean for us today? Listen as Pastor Marc explains - there is a lot for us to learn from Nahum! The Minor Prophets, Part 5 - Micah
09/05/2021 Duration: 45minPastor Marc Sharp continues the series on the minor prophets with the book of Micah. Reading Micah is like breathing: exhaling and inhaling. There is a rhythm to his book. In one breath he declares fiery judgement awaiting the people for their unfaithfulness, and in the very next, he reminds them that God hasn’t forgotten his covenant promises, that he will restore and save. This is a message for the church, America, and the world today! The Minor Prophets, Part 4 - Obadiah
03/05/2021 Duration: 43minPastor Marc Sharp continues our series on the minor prophets with the short book of Obadiah, which has only one chapter - a little book that speaks with a big voice! Obadiah is a book of redemption and hope for all of God’s people. It's a message to God’s enemies, telling them their injustice and cruelty hasn’t escaped his notice, and a day of reckoning is approaching. But, He’s also telling his people they will one day be redeemed and vindicated. And, yes, this message is relevant to the world today! The Minor Prophets, Part 3 - Amos
26/04/2021 Duration: 47minPastor Marc Sharp continues the series on the minor prophets with part three, the book of Amos. What does Amos have to say to a 21st Century American church? The Israelites mixed the worship of God with idolatry. Do we? Do we count ourselves as slaves of Christ, or do we craft an image, highlighting “positive Christianity”? Do we come to the Bible and prayer like David in the Psalms, or instead post Instagram photos of an open Bible, steaming cup of coffee and an inspirational verse hoping people will see us as spiritual? The Minor Prophets, Part 2 - Joel, The Day of the Lord
18/04/2021 Duration: 48minPastor Paul Landers continues our series on the minor prophets with a stirring message from the book of Joel. God continues to pursue His people, bringing them to repentance to avoid coming destruction. The day of the Lord, repentance, and God dwelling among His people converge in the promise of the outpouring of His Spirit. The final victory will be the Lord's, and His people will enjoy him forever! The Minor Prophets, Part 1 - Hosea
11/04/2021 Duration: 38minPastor Marc Sharp begins a new series exploring the final 12 books in the Old Testament commonly referred to as the Minor Prophets, taking a “bird’s eye view” of the major themes of each book. Today, he paints a graphic picture from the book of Hosea concerning the frequent unfaithfulness of God's chosen people and how it applies to the church of today. The good news is that God continues to pursue those he loves, even in their straying! Easter Sunday
04/04/2021 Duration: 49minThe fundamental proclamation of the Church is not only that Christ died, but that he arose from the grave and lives forevermore. In this Easter Sunday message, Pastor Marc Sharp rejects a toothless concept of a spiritual or metaphorical resurrection, and proclaims that the actual, physical resurrection of Jesus Christ took place in human history, and that all of history itself hinges on that single event!
